Meet Shauna Strecker of Bella LA Crema in Lyons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shauna Strecker.

Shauna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a touring musician for decades, a home design-build/contractor, a closet foodie, alongside several restaurant stints in and out of college, Shaunalee pulled together many life-experiences to put together a one of a kind company: Bella La Crema, The first ever Boutique Butter Bar.

Not less than a year in business, this rising butter-star has gleaned a “Best of Boulder” award, appeared in a national cheese magazine as “#1 bucket list butter”, been featured on Denver’s Channel 2, and has countless butter fans driving as far as 4 hours away just to experience the world first Butter Bar!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Im Not Sure if anyone has had a smooth road opening any “food establishment” for the first time. And, if there are such folks I would love to hear that story! I think I may be the only person who had a liquor license in place two months before they opened!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bella LA Crema – what should we know?
Bella La Crema- We make up to 20 different selections of organic, cultured, grass-fed butter, and infuse them in our myriad of breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.

We have a butter bar in our restaurant, where customers can taste all the available butters for free. We also serve butter flights that feature both sweet and savory butters with a warm baguette.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My son has played a big role in the development of the butters and this company. From his initial, genius design of one of the first flavors (Lemon Fennel Delight) to putting in hard work in the kitchen and ideas about customers and concepts, he has been contributing to the building of this company for years…and he’s still not old enough to drive!  Also, a handful of friends, rolled up their sleeves in the beginning to help me get the doors open!  The people in the town of Lyons, CO have been amazingly supportive and kind!

A great community is much of what helps a business be successful!
