Today we’d like to introduce you to Susannah Allen.
Susannah, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was actually an art major back in college and focused on photography. I spent countless hours in the darkroom developing negatives and printing images. After working several jobs including a preschool teacher and graphic designer, I decided to start my own photography business. I have photographed many weddings over the years, as well as families and pets. These days I shoot with both digital and film cameras.
Has it been a smooth road?
I learned a lot of the fine art stuff in school–composition, color theory. But I taught myself all the technical aspects of photography, like camera settings and lighting.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Susannah Storch Photography photographs weddings and families. I love capturing connection and love–the small moments that become more important as time passes.
I’m most proud that I’m still here after years in the industry. I am also proud and honored that I’ve captured the same families year after year–what an honor.
I deliver bright images that reflect true to life colors. I encourage my clients to print their images–don’t let them live as files on your computer! I also try to incorporate film during photography sessions–to me, this creates a more soulful image.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
More and more people will have access to better cameras. So, in addition to perfecting our craft, true professionals will have to provide a topnotch experience.
