Meet Taylor Semien of Restorative Injectables in DTC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Semien.

Taylor, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out on this journey over six years ago when I was working in the Plastic Surgery field as a registered nurse. I worked in every area from surgery to pre/post op and the injectables. I quickly found that my passion was the injectable side of the business and my niche in the aesthetics world grew rather quickly. Throughout this time I was working on becoming a nurse practitioner because I always knew I wanted to own my own practice. I had no idea what that looked like at the time and still can’t believe it actually came to fruition. So many times I thought I should just stay working for a plastic surgeon and enjoy life…butttt I also realized that I am not the person that just hangs…I’m always trying to grow in the industry. So I hustled for over three years…saved every penny I had…devoted every minute I had to building out the new space…and prayed for the best! Fast forward to November of 2018… Three weeks after my first son was born, I opened a storefront location that I am absolutely obsessed with. It took all my focus, drive, and money for the past two years to get this place open and it was 100% worth it. I am so thankful for the most loyal patients in Denver to keep this place growing daily.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth road? I wish! But a bumpy road with all the curves makes for a much sweeter success story. I’ve lost money, friends, and I’m sure more than I even know about trying to get the doors to Restorative Injectables open…but also gained all of those things back in different forms. I have learned more about myself, my relationships, and to never believe a contractor when they tell you “Your doors will be open in 3 months!” I was so naive when my husband and I started out on the venture, but because of all those bumps, I feel like I could open a second location with my eyes closed. I think the main struggles with opening a new business is that a lot of these things are out of your control and if you are any sort of person who likes to have control, it will drive you crazy! But again, it has taught me so much patience and I truly feel like I am unbreakable in all aspects of life after this experience.

Please tell us about Restorative Injectables.
Restorative Injectables is my second baby…I have nurtured it and loved it from the very beginning. I work as the owner on the back end and nurse practitioner injector on the daily. I do everything from Botox to fillers, but my specialty is lip augmentation. I live for injecting lips. I feel like a person’s lips can truly define who they are and find so much joy in helping patient’s find the perfect pout. It truly is my passion! As a company, I am most proud of the fact that we are woman-owned and here to empower every patient we have and I truly believe I do that every day. My mission for the company is this… “We are here to provide an environment of empowerment and self-love to every person who walks through our doors by inspiring confidence in them through our exceptional aesthetic results.” I set myself apart from others because I provide consistent results and the detail I provide for every single injection I do and patient I see.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t change anything about the process and the organic growth I have accomplished…but I would for sure change my mentality and realize that there will be bumps in the road, but it will all work out. I was so worried about the timeline in which everything was “supposed” to happen and what people thought about me and how I did things when we opened and I have learned not to care anymore.
