Tracy, it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
“If you ignore the whispers of your body, sooner or later it will start screaming at you.” My name is Tracy Gowler. I am a Speaker, Mechanical Engineer, Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner working to change the way women look at their health. My focus is the sick and exhausted women with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Autoimmune Disease. I guide them through the process of improving their Hashimoto’s to becoming the Hashimoto’s Badass. Driven and tenacious I pulled the engine of my Toyota Celica with my dad when I was a teenager. I spent the summer with grease in my toenails and this was the beginning of my career as a Mechanical Engineer. I worked 20 years at Motorola learning every aspect of engineering that was available to me. And being the only female engineer on the team early in my career I was also given the responsibility of project manager along with my engineering duties. I have over 30 years of experience as a project manager. In the process of healing myself and learning how to live healthy with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis I completed a certification in Functional Diagnostic Nutrition and founded my company, Your Health Made Simple. I have married my love and knowledge of health with my skillset from engineering and project management to help women successfully improve the way they live with Hashimoto’s. I understands that each person has a health puzzle. It is not a game of pin the tail on the donkey to figure out what might be going wrong. There is a process to helping the body heal itself. I utilize my engineering troubleshooting skills in a very structured way and guide my clients one step at a time making successful progress. I like to work hard but I also like to play hard and living at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado allows me to do this. In my fifties, I decided to take up river kayaking and ice climbing since regaining my health. It is beautiful when a career meets a passion. I love what I do.

Why did you start Your Health Made Simple?
I had been sick for decades, in the medical community spending thousands of dollars, looking for answers and not making any progress. My symptoms were morphing constantly. I felt I was just playing pin the tail on the donkey trying medications that were only band-aiding my symptoms and in some cases, making them much worse. Many times I was told there was nothing wrong with me or that it was all in my head. As an engineer it made sense to me that if I could get to the root cause of my issues, I could heal. I refused to give up and finally found two wonderful woman that put me on the right path. In the process of heading down that path, I got my Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis diagnosis and found the answers I was looking for in the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Certification program. I put myself through the program while I was working on my certification and it allowed me to take back my energy and my life. There are approx. 30M women struggling with this disease and I just couldn’t let another woman go through the long process of trying to figure it out, all the while being told it’s in her head or that there was nothing that could be done. This is a tough illness and it steals your quality of life but the reality is that there are answers and you don’t have to live this way. I wanted to provide those answers to every woman that is willing to listen.

Who is the focus of your business?
My focus is the sick and exhausted woman with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. She is generally over 40. But more than that, she is driven, compassionate, strong, sensitive, and beautiful. She is sick of playing pin the tail on the donkey. She has been in the medical community for years looking for answers to her myriad of symptoms that have her feeling like she is fighting for her life every day. And she is ready to take her life back and become a Hashimoto’s Badass.

What makes you different from others that do what you do?
My background allows me to understand how to get to the root of a problem through structured problem solving. It isn’t possible to truly understand what is helping or what is hurting the problem if everything is tackled all at once. When it comes to autoimmune, the body needs a foundation prior to any other work starting. If the foundation isn’t provided, nothing else you do will serve you. Healing must happen in steps in a very structured way. If this order isn’t right, it can make a client very sick. And it is my goal for my clients to be successful. They are exhausted and foggy and can’t take it on all at once. If it is too overwhelming, they will quit. They need small wins with simpler changes to help them continue to commit to the process. I help my clients understand this and that the healing process can take some time. It took them a while to get to the place they find themselves in but if they can stay the course, and provide the right support, their body will heal.

How many programs do you offer?
I have broken my Kick Hashi’s to the Curb Program™ into 4 Pillars of Healing Hashimoto’s™ to make it easier for the clients to tackle the healing process in pieces and to help them improve their chances of success. The first pillar is my Free Healing Hashimoto’s 3-Part Mini-Series. In this course I layout what autoimmune is, how it develops, the foundation of healing, and the foundation of success in the healing process. This course is offered 4 times per year. The Second pillar walks my clients through the initial lifestyle changes that are needed to build the foundation that is required to do the more in-depth work. This is a group program because everyone has to start here and they will all cover the same material. It allows them to see wins in improving energy and feeling better and put the right foundation in place so they can tackle Pillar 3. In Pillar 3, I dive deeper into the root of the illness with my clients. This pillar requires testing to determine what is triggering the autoimmune response. Every clients triggers will be different so it does require individual work. This is the longest work that my client and I will do together. Pillar 4 is the maintenance part of the program. Once the client has gotten back their energy and quality of life, it becomes a matter of maintaining it. Testing, when necessary to ensure nothing is changing. And diving in deeper when and if needed. It is a comprehensive program and the client is in charge. Once they have built the foundation for healing in Pillar 2 and make it into Pillar 3, testing begins. The testing provides data and allows us to get to the nitty gritty of what is at the root of the illness. We discuss the approach, what is possible, options for support etc. and the client decides what they want to do. By the time a client hits Pillar 4, they know what is required foundationally, they understand how to listen to the whispers of their body to make shifts if needed, and they know when to come for additional help if things start to change.

What is the goal of your programs?
Success for my clients is really defined by how long and how hard they are willing to work. My goal is for them to improve their energy to a point where they start to regain their quality of life. When they begin to realize this is possible, hopefully they will want to continue the journey of really getting to the bottom of the triggers for their illness so we can work to eliminate them and really solidify the life they want to live despite having Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.

Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
Absolutely. I can be reached in a number of ways. My website is www.yourhealthmadesimple.com. I am a big fan of talking with women about their struggles and the opportunities for healing before they ever dive in so they can sign up for a Free 60 minute Vitality Breakthrough Session from my website.
