Hi Tracy, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
I’m a full time artist creating paintings in Acrylic of wildlife and domestic animals. I currently have two distinct styles. My well known colorful pop art paintings and a new more subdued series titled “Ghost Animals”.
What can you tell us about the process of booking a commission and what the collector can expect?
The process works with the client typically contacting me for information. For my pet portraits I have a price sheet and well defined information on how I have streamlined the process to make it simple and easy. For portraits I need several photos of the client’s pet to look through and an idea of size or budget. After that we can determine background color, main colors etc… I require a 50% deposit. I will send a picture showing that I have started the painting and then when I’m near the end, I will send a photo for approval before I sign and varnish. If any corrections are needed I will do them before sealing the painting, collecting balance and shipping the art. If it’s one of my new style I show the client some of my previous works and guide them with best colors and also that this process is more abstract and I let the flow of paint etc….guide me more in how the animal is going to turn out. I’ve been very fortunate to have clients that trust me to create a painting that will resonate with them.
How do you attract new collectors through your use of social media?
I get a lot of referrals to my Instagram account through clients tagging someone they know to look at my work! I also try my best to be strategic with the kinds of posts I do, the hashtags I use, the time of day that I post and the stories I add to my profile. I’ve been building my followers organically for a few years now.
Do you paint in other styles besides the one you are most known for?
Yes! My new series titled Ghost Animals look nothing like my pop art ones. Although you can tell it me because I think all artists have a signature way they wield a brush and my animals eyes are always the way to tell.
Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
