Meet Vanessa Aschmann of Vanessa Leigh Movement in North of Denver and Fort Collins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Aschmann.

Vanessa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey with core and pelvic floor issues (specifically peeing my pants while running and the beginnings of chronic low back pain) began when I was a high school athlete. Then in my late twenties, having children exacerbated my core issues further. In my early 30’s, I ended up scouring my area for resources to help with my postpartum core issues– stress and urge incontinence and diastasis recti. With no luck finding an effective local solution, in 2017, I began practicing a comprehensive and internationally recognized online program called Restore Your Core (RYC®).

Within months, I found relief for my postpartum issues and to my surprise, greatly decreased my chronic low back pain as well. I also began developing an empowered and body-positive mindset. RYC® changed my life and it was clear to me I had to bring this work to my local area. So in 2018, I traveled to Minneapolis and Miami to complete pre-requisites and a training program. I dove into this unique modality through study and practice. And over the past year, I’m overjoyed and proud to be offering and sharing this work locally as an RYC® teacher and local small business owner. Now, at almost 36, I feel I’ve found my calling in life, helping women move better and feel better in their bodies.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I have struggled most of my life to find methods, resources, or providers to help me experience pain or incontinence relief lasting more than a month or two. And even now, with all of the success I’ve experienced, there are continued mental and physical challenges. Even with the continued challenges, I now have new strategies, tools, and an amazing community to tap into when I encounter roadblocks.

Please tell us about your work.
Vanessa Leigh Movement is a one-woman Movement Coaching operation, empowering women to move and feel better in their body. Through workshops, small group series classes, and personalized private sessions, I help those with core or pelvic floor concerns such as low back pain, leaking urine, prolapsed organs, abdominal separation, or feelings of weakness or unease in the body.

I am relatable and non-judgmental in my approach, having experienced similar challenges as my clients. I help each woman with her unique challenges and we co-create a plan for fitting movement and mobilization into her unique life. I challenge individuals to curiously explore patterns, play with the new movement, and hone in on strengths, of both mind and body. I love what I do.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The way I connect with my clients lends to the success I’ve had with each individual and on a whole. I highly value-creating space, listening and responding to each student. This way, they know I’m on their team and invested in their success.
