Today we’d like to introduce you to Zac Fabian.
Zac, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started making videos when I was in high school, initially just for fun for school projects and filming my teenage hobbies. It continued in college at the University of Virginia where I studied political theory and filmmaking. I wondered what I wanted to do with my life while hustling video gigs. After I graduated, I became a freelancer while still working at an ice skate rink and taxi company. Full-time freelance started during 2013. I worked with clients like the Army National Guard, University of Virginia, The AV Company, and other businesses to provide high-quality video production. In 2014, I went on tour for the first Permaculture Action Tour with a DJ, The Polish Ambassador, and created my first documentary. I moved to Colorado in 2015, started Wedding Videos Colorado, and continue to provide video production for-hire. Weddings keep me busy at the moment, but I also find time to work on music events and other commercial projects. In the future, I will pursue more creative storytelling.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a relatively smooth road. I decided a while ago, if I was going to do this, then I would invest in it completely. Passion to me means work ethic, time management, and dedication. These qualities are important to be successful. For me, the number one struggle is managing my stress levels. Finding time for myself outside of work has been a challenge and remains a work in progress.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business produces super high-quality videography, video editing, and multi-media curation. My videos are broadcast quality, professional, and unique. I have a comprehensive brand and marketing approach. I produce creative videos from ideas with storyboarding and script development. I film, edit, and color correct to create an outstanding final product! I am good at capturing the authentic ‘moment.’ I have a knack for getting the best out of interviews and talent. I have a director’s eye that I am hoping to cultivate in the coming years. Additionally, I am a licensed UAS Drone Pilot and certified Underwater Dive Master, all of which adds to my versatility as a video producer.
What were you like growing up?
I was interested in academics as a child and was in a rigorous schooling program, which kept me focused on academic achievement. I was also involved in sports and became captain of our varsity soccer and cross country teams. I earned many honors and was highly motivated. I was and still am an avid learner who loves to read and wants to know as much as I can. I am competitive and driven to excel. That is what has allowed me to succeed as an entrepreneur. It takes constant work and time management.
