Rising Stars: Meet A Lack of Champions

Today we’d like to introduce you to A Lack of Champions.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are three men who met through Craigslist and Bandmix, looking to form a band and play music. We come from different parts of the world. Shane is from Portsmouth, Ohio. Jake is from California. Nirveek is from Kathmandu, Nepal.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We all have different struggles. We are adults who have worked hard in life to keep ourselves going. We each have our own unique story. It wasn’t easy getting the band together at first, but we have maintained our commitment, creativity, and drive.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a punk rock band. We have a love of music and trying to learn it. Besides that, we have our own talents. Jake is a carpenter. Nirveek is a graphic designer. Shane is a healthcare worker who writes lyrics and draws pictures. We play our music very proudly and help each other out. We play heavy and aggressive Punk Rock. We have wide influences from the genre, including The Ramones, The Stooges, L7, The Slits, Killing Joke, Jawbreaker, Dead Milkmen, Dead Kennedys, Nirvana, Fugazi, Joy Division, and the Coathangers. But we also like groups not associated with the genre. Those influences are equally vital!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Creativity. Passion.
