Today we’d like to introduce you to Dinesh Kumar Jayapal.
Dinesh Kumar, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2013, I was frustrated sitting at my desk and doing the regular software job. I was looking at the screen and saw a beautiful nature photo. That gave me a thought, will I be able to take a photo like that?
I immediately took my phone out and opened the gallery app to see the photos I had taken. Funnily a lot of nature shots to be honest. I was like okay, this is your call. Maybe a risky one but let’s see how far it goes.
I joined my colleagues with an interest in photography. We started making short trips over the weekend to take pictures. I realized this was not just a hobby as I felt at peace and less stressed after each outing and I am so lucky to have landed in Colorado, a nature photographer’s paradise. After nine years here, I am selling my photo prints for a living.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Anyone who pursues passion will always have pros and cons. I moved here as a dependant and for the first few years, I was waiting for the right opportunity, and being an immigrant did not help me either, I moved from India, leaving behind everything I know for 27 years. Life in the states was new and challenging.
I am an introvert but my amazing community at eclectic has helped me grow out of my comfort zone.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
