Today we would like to introduce you to Colorado’s fast growing digital marketing agency, Mountain Air Marketing. Their team of women have shared their story, company culture and suggestions on adapting during these hard times and what’s changed in the last 4 years in the digital marketing space.
What makes MAM stand out from other agencies?
Their team of six empowered and inspired women is what makes this marketing agency stand out from the rest. Unlike most large agencies, they never white label their work. Everything offered and created under Mountain Air Marketing (MAM) is done within their team. Each team member is incredibly competent in their own service areas, from website design to SEO efforts, social media and more.
With so much growth over the past few years, their values and mission have stayed strong. They treat each client with the utmost respect, have never been late sending a monthly report and are typically over-communicating and over-delivering. Their client retention rate is nearly 95% and grew mostly from referrals.
With our unstable workforce environment, how have you gone about building a team and what do you look for in team members?
Mountain Air Marketing looks at how a potential team member would blend with their culture before considering their skillset. They believe work space and culture is the key to a successful business.
A few attributes they look for in team members include interpersonal communication skills mixed with a nice blend of creativity. It is incredibly important for all of their team members to have their own unique perspectives and be able to communicate with one another in order for the team, as a whole, to deliver beautiful, robust results to their clients.
Half of their team members are mothers to young children.. It was important for Rachel and Carly (the owners of MAM) to offer a work life balance where these women could get the best of both worlds. Remote working 3 days a week and 2 days at a coffee shop or a home office.
As a successful marketing agency with countless awards, what advice can you offer small businesses that are struggling during Covid?
Their focus on creating and maintaining relationships with all of their clients and community was key for Mountain Air Marketing to remain successful. For small businesses struggling during the pandemic, the MAM team recommends having systems and controls in place to eliminate wasted time and resources. Rachel, one of the co-owners can’t stress enough to set your goals and plan ahead, and remember it’s OK to adjust. Building a trusted following really helps a business be able to ask for support from the community and give the consumer a buy-in to support local.
What has changed in the last 4 years in the digital marketing space since launching?
A general rule of thumb in marketing is that things are always changing. With digital communications like social media, email newsletters, and Google reviews, one notable change in the digital marketing space has been how the roles of public relations seem to overlap in a lot of situations. Responding to comments, sharing consumer generated content and reaching an audience authentically and personally has taken top priority in digital marketing these days.
A huge change in the digital marketing space they’ve also noticed is the weight video content currently holds, especially in social media. The key focus area right now for video content is on Instagram with the blow up of Reels. These short, fast-paced clips give viewers a stimulating experience on social media, which gives your brand a huge potential to stand out and be remembered. And because videos keep the viewers’ attention longer, social media algorithms favor this type of content. At Mountain Air Marketing, video content, along with reels is a newer task for them and they’ve been putting a big emphasis on the importance of it for their clients’ success.
Today it’s important for any business to be present, relevant, and add value in the digital world. As expert digital marketers, Mountain Air Marketing’s job is to help your business connect to people in a way that leaves them better than when they found you.
