Hidden Gems: Meet Lane Rideout of Rideout Legal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lane Rideout.

Hi Lane, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law I moved to Massachusetts and practiced public pension law for several years. Ultimately, I relocated to Colorado for the active outdoor lifestyle Colorado offers. I started working with tech startups and caught the entrepreneurial spirit of the startup world. Ultimately, I wanted to open my own business and practice law, so I opened a solo practice in 2018. I focus on business and employment matters, with some real estate and trustee work. It has been a privilege to represent employees and small businesses in my community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning a business requires a lot of hard work and the ability to navigate challenges but I love it. I feel that I am thriving while also helping my community. I focus on giving my best every day and also making sure I have time for my family and myself. I cannot pour from an empty vessel and I have found it is essential to have balance in my life.

We’ve been impressed with Rideout Legal PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am my business and I hope it reflects my desire to serve my community. There are a lot of aspects of being an attorney that appeal to me. I love that this is a life-long learning profession. I love that I can problem-solve for clients. I love that this practice reminds me daily of the importance of being an active listener. I love that I can bring closure for individuals and businesses around large and small problems. I am always willing to offer a free confidential call to see if I can help.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
It is so important in life and as an attorney to have empathy. It is a continual process of finding the line between strong commitment to a client and keeping enough emotional distance to be effective and give hard advice. Some days are hard but hard work brings its own reward.
