Community Highlights: Meet Caleb Guilliams of BetterWealth.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Guilliams.

Hi Caleb, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Central Wisconsin and am the oldest of 6 kids. I have always been fascinated with how money works. I got a job at a community bank in Central Wisconsin at the age of 17. By 19 years old I took over the entire investment department and began to see firsthand how the majority of Americans were financially failing despite “professional” financial advising. After 3 years of traveling the country and being mentored by the most successful financial minds, I became passionate about helping people find a better way to build wealth. I left my prestigious position at the bank, founded my company BetterWealth at the age of 21, authored a best-selling book “The AND Asset” at age 22, host the BetterWealth Podcast, and speak to thousands around the world. I have since moved my company to Colorado, we have 15 employees and growing. I am one of the youngest in the space with the ability to serve clients in all 50 states.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not smooth at all! I would have to say there were two really big challenges.

The first challenge was my age. The average financial advisor is 50 and I was 21 starting in this space. Being so young, people obviously didn’t take me seriously. It’s harder to build trust when you look like you’re 12. You would be luck to land an intern position at 21 years old in this industry, so the stereotype we had to work through was that it was expected of me to have many more years of field experience, wear a suit, and have a beard in order to do well in this industry.

The second challenge was battling the traditional business model of the industry. I built a completely virtual business. People told me I was crazy, they told me my model would fail, and that no one would be “lining out the door” for my services. We were the first in the industry to be doing what we were doing, people laughed at us and told us we would fail. This was all before COVID when the world went had to go virtual.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about BetterWealth.com?
BetterWealth.com specializes in helping entrepreneurs unlock intentional living by customizing a better way for them to keep and build their wealth.

We are a better alternative to financial planning.

My book “The And Asset” has been our biggest branding point.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Being in the right place at the right time gave me the ability to land a job at 17 in a bank and take over the investment department at 19, which is unheard of. I know there is a lot of hard work that went into it, but really being in the right place at the right time landed me that opportunity.
