Check Out Stephanie Luth’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Luth.

Hi Stephanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my journey in photography when I was 16, I graduated with my Associate’s Degree in Professional Photography in 2017. Following graduation, I worked in Maine as a photographer, then I followed my heart to Colorado.

I lived in Summit County and worked many odd and end jobs around the county, building a community and my confidence. In May of 2021, I made the decision to relocate to the metro area and I am finding my place here as I go.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This has absolutely not been an easy road. I graduated in May of 2017 and in September of 2017 a roommate stole almost $3,000 in equipment from me, which included my only body as well as my two main lenses. I was unable to replace my equipment for six months. That is just one example of a physical challenge, the mental challenges are never-ending but worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional photographer, I have had work published in a few magazines and I have most recently won Best in Show in an aluminum show at my college. I am very proud of the other awards I received while I was in college, such as First Place for Portraits at two separate shows as well as Honorable Mentions. I have a focus on portrait work, I have built my work on capturing a natural side of my models.

I notice when in large groups of other photographers and creatives, I am either watching the beauty pore out around me and capturing those moments or I am focused on making my subject feel the most beautiful they can. I love bringing people together and watching them learn and grow; have that child-like happiness that can only be achieved when you are fully immersed in your passion.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I have worked for a dog sledding, sleigh riding, and a snowmobiling company. All in the same winter!
