Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Mendoza.
Hi Carlos, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Carlos Juan Mendoza and I am a dedicated filmmaker and photographer. I started getting into film and photography when I was 8 years old. I remember when my mom first let me use her camera to make a short stop motion video of my toys acting out a scene. For me, film and photography is much more than telling great stories and taking beautiful images – it’s about capturing the emotion and essence of a single moment, and sharing it with the world. My passion is fueled by the reaction I get from my clients. When they see the photographs that I take and begin to smile or cry because of the memories that I had created for them that would last a lifetime. Whenever I take a photograph whether the subject matter is a person or object, I believe that is the art, and I am simply just the paintbrush. I love fulfilling the visions of my clients and what they feel is an important moment in their life. I view challenges as opportunities and love collaborating with partners on photography/videography projects.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Although the journey hasn’t been smooth, I wouldn’t have had my experience happen any other way. I’d say the hardest part about my passion is the equipment and software that is required to learn in order to be a successful photographer/videographer.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer, videographer, and graphic designer. Of the three, I would say I am best known for my photography work. I would say I am most proud of my photography work. What sets me apart from other photographers is the fact that I feel like I make the interaction more than just taking pictures. I like to get to know my clients on a personal level, which in the end elevates the photos because it allows me to understand how they want them to come out.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid-19 has taught me that human interaction is everything. Without human interaction, I definitely struggled with my photography business and always had to evolve the way I went about going to take photographs of my clients.
