Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Torres.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been driven to express myself creatively with art as early as I could remember. I’ve always had a passion for bringing ideas to reality. I first experienced Photoshop and photography when I was 14 years old, and my older brother introduced me to the world of design. I continued my journey in art and graduated with a college degree in multimedia design. After college, I had a summer internship with a designer in NYC who managed multiple clients and had experience working with companies such as PRADA. I assisted the designer with her client goals, creating exclusive look books for clients in the NY fashion world. This experience helped me develop skills in adjusting to different client needs and visions. Moving forward from this wonderful experience, I was able to learn more interdepartmental designing skills in marketing and design. This opened more doors to work with top Denver models, and with extremely talented stylists and design teams. Eventually, I landed jobs with luxury brands such as LOLLIA, TOKYOMILK, SPYDER Athletics, and others. Working in these high-end companies taught me a lot about producing social media content and developing marketing strategies. I find myself multi-tasking between styling, designing, photographing, and finishing the vision for the project at hand. This has given me a huge perspective on all that is involved to deliver a complete vision for the client. I am confident now in saying I am a well-rounded artist that can brainstorm and create an entire project from start to finish.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I definitely have had a lot of setbacks, nothing close to what you could call a smooth experience but that’s life isn’t it? There are so many things we have no control of, and that’s ok! I have learned to adapt, accomplish my goals with what I have, and not be mad about what I don’t have. We can always make do with what we have, no matter what! If you can do a lot with little, imagine how much more you can do when you have everything you need. That is how I grew up, not waiting for life to hand me opportunities on a silver platter. I moved here from Puerto Rico with my family with just some clothes in a bag. I left all I ever knew to start over again in Colorado. This definitely wasn’t an easy transition, and I still find myself adapting today from that. It was one the hardest things I have had to do. I give major props to people who move from other cultures to the United States.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart is my art isn’t just following trends, but being sincere and intentional about my work. I think people can see the sincerity in art and design. Being true to myself and helping others achieve those visions for themselves is what I do best. My consultations with clients are just the deepest, most valuable conversations I have had about breaking grounds in trends, being different and unique. By diving into their needs to achieve and connect with their audience, accomplishing their goals, I can make sure they have felt we collaborated to do all that we could to get as close to the desired vision. Design and Photography is communication. The way I am able to communicate with my clients sets myself and them up for success in the long term.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
By being able to really believe in and support my clients with sincerity and genuineness in my communication with them. It builds long-term clients and connections for my future and theirs.
