Check Out DanShay Martinez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to DanShay Martinez. 

Hi DanShay, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off modeling by walking through the mall, shopping with my mom. A scout for a modeling and acting agency recruited me to model with them. I actually never considered modeling until that point. I talked to my mom about doing it and she said if I wanted to do it then let’s do it, so we did it. Since then, I have accomplished so much within the industry. I’ve traveled the world, met the most amazing people, created unforgettable memories, established unbreakable connections. I’ve walked plenty of runway shows and continuing to do so. Very grateful that I chose to do modeling because it was a love that I never knew I had. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When I first started modeling, I was in school and had a job so it was really hard for me to get modeling jobs. My schedule wasn’t really flexible. That was one of the biggest challenges starting out. I actually had to take a year or two off of modeling just so I can finish school and actually figure out what I wanted to do for my future. I decided that I wanted to take modeling serious and dedicate as much time as possible. Once I graduated high school, got a job at Chipotle, and modeled as much as I could. I am so thankful to work at jobs where they understand I do modeling on the side and I occasionally need to take days off and they respect that. Going into more recent times, Covid really really slowed down the whole entire model industry. Everything took a halt and it stood that way for a really long time. My management went out of business, I hardly had any photoshoots, did not do any runway shows, I was having withdrawals. Now that Covid has slowed down everything is going back to normal, slowly but surely. Back to doing shows, shoots, a new management, everything feels right again. Excited to see where this year is going to go. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am aspiring model in the Denver area. I love camera work, runway, editorial and commercial print. I specialize in runway, beauty shots for hair and makeup, commercial print, editorial work. I am known for wearing different types wigs, avant-garde looks, high-quality editorial prints, and runway. I am most proud of the connections that I have made with people in this industry. What sets me apart from others is I am very passionate about what I do and I make sure what I do is done accurately and correctly. Also, being very versatile sets be apart from other models in this industry. 

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that is surprising about me that a lot of people do not know is that I am from a small town in Kansas called Topeka. People are always saying, “Oh, I thought you were from Puerto Rico or something.” I love telling people where I am from because they would have never guessed it
