Meet Nancy Markow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Markow.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a child, I shared curiosity about God, why I was alive, and what my potential was – the meaning and purpose of my life. This thirst for something deeper created a pathway for inquiry that often-made others uncomfortable, got me in trouble, in Catholic school, and ultimately aligned me with amazingly wise people throughout my life.

Connections with others, being in service, and fulfilling supportive roles are how I found purpose. It also supported me with a path into spiritual, personal, and relationship studies. Discovering and then diving deep into the Enneagram over the last 25 years was life-changing for me.

Now pushing 64 years of age, I am passionate and I feel privileged to have time and focus to focus to give back, build community, and provide classes, and experiences that explore the relationship we each have with ourselves, whatever God is, and our free will.

Inspired by the teachings of Lynn Twist, author of the “The Soul of Money,” all events I put together are free, with expenses covered by the inspired donations of those who can offer them. My priority is accessibility for those who are truly interested in what is offered.

Connecting You with YourSelf serves as the forum for multi-level empowering yoga, weekly Intentional Living Circles, and an intensive small group learning experience called Empowered Living. Empowered Living shares Enneagram wisdom and much more. All events are via Zoom.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The Enneagram taught me about the Law of Seven, which explains that change is forever constant within a flow of Divine energy that has order and meaning. This, along with a belief that at a Soul level we choose our experiences shifted my perception of what might feel like obstacles and challenges. I can see them now as gifts in strange packages.

After a collection of events at 17, I learned to be self-reliant and live on my own. At 19, guided by something I did not fully understand, I moved to Colorado with $3k and no contacts – amazingly by the grace of God, the rental car company at Stapleton airport rented me a car so I did not have to walk to my new life from there. At 25, I married and at 27 and 29 welcomed amazing daughters. At 50, divorced, I bought my first ever new car and a townhome.

All these events and personal ones, not included, had challenges, and all of them also gave me the experiences that caused me to be who I am today.

What makes you happy?
Before each yoga class, Intentional Living Circle and Empowered Living class, I guide a centering practice where we connect with each of our three centers of intelligence. From this place of awake-ness, I find a connection to something that is more than me – from this place I get out of the way and allow what feels like magic to come forth and unfold.

At the end of any event, often with great joy, I reflect on how it all came together, often in ways that I did not plan – how the people connected, were inspired, felt supported, or showed up real and wise, sharing wisdom for all. I feel an inner joy that something I was inspired to create was received at just the right time for someone or something I knew nothing about prior to the offering.

I feel purpose.
