Check Out Ella Colimore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ella Colimore.

Hi Ella, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Ella Colimore and I am from Baltimore, Maryland. I came to Denver for college because I was recruited to play Division 1 lacrosse here. I started my second Instagram page which was then called @ecfitfoodie in the fall of 2019. During this time, I had an undiagnosed eating disorder. My account was random recipes and workouts I would share. In January 2020 I started the process of recovery. My journey included seeing an eating disorder specialized therapist weekly and I was on a meal plan where I had to post all my meals and snacks. The process of recovery led me to rediscovering who Ella Colimore truly is and what she wants in life. I started to use my Instagram again in the spring of 2020 and changed the username to @mindfulnourishingec. Recovery gave me my love for fashion and makeup back and introduced me to how much I love cooking and baking and getting creative in the kitchen. Now @mindfulnourishingec has grown into a passion of mine. It is a place I can express the importance of self-love and body positivity and show the world my talents and hobbies.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As I mentioned I was diagnosed with an eating disorder at the end of January 2019. Committing to recovery was the hardest thing I have ever done. The mental battles I fought were tough. The battles I fought with my family were tough, but it was all so worth it because I got my life back.

I am a freshman at the University of Denver playing a Division 1 sport. Adjusting to a new way of living life this year has been very challenging. It is hard to not compare yourself in sports and that has always been something I struggle with and do now. I have to keep reminding myself that I am me and I have so many unique traits that make me special and my sport does not define my worth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am not currently employed because I am a full-time student-athlete at the University of Denver. My dream is to turn @mindfulnourishingec into my job one day. Right now, @mindfulnourishingec is a passion of mine and I want the world to see it! It gives me so much joy and confidence producing content for @mindfulnourishingec.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see myself graduating from the University of Denver with a degree is media, film, and journalism studies with a minor in communications. I hope to get a job in fashion in New York City or L.A. I want to take @mindfulnourishingec to the next level. I want to hit milestones and keep working hard at it! I want to keep my love and passion for cooking and fashion and continue sharing this passion through @mindfulnourishingec.
