Today we’d like to introduce you to Redamancy. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Redamancy is comprised of three members: Me (Bella Musser – vocals/keys), Andreas Landeck (bass/production), and Nirvan (drums).
The word ‘redamancy’ means a love returned in full. The band ‘Redamancy’ is a manifestation of this and has become a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. We have ended up falling in love with one another as friends, musicians, and collaborators, as well as with the music we create.
Many of our songs begin inspired by the opposite of the word; but through the musical process, they ground themselves in themes of empowerment, self-actualization, and the trials and victories that come with loving others fully.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The first song that laid the foundation for us becoming a band was “Burn.” It was a song that I had written in 2018, and through pure circumstance, performed onstage for the first time with Andreas accompanying me on bass. It ignited the friendship that became Redamancy, and the band was formed with a self-titled EP in its first incarnation, along with two additional members.
In the process of writing and preparing to record our follow-up release, the pandemic hit, bringing the project to a standstill. Over the course of the next year and a half, each of us went through a period of reflection and growth both as individuals and as a band. As we navigated our individual journeys and revisited/re-wrote the songs we had been developing for our sophomore EP, the dynamic of the band shifted. Once the aptly-titled “Revival” EP was finished, we were left with our two original members and a new vision for what’s next.
In early 2022, Andreas introduced me to a close musical collaborator and friend he had been working with since high school. Nirvan Jamshidi meshed with us instantly, and we have already begun working on a new collection of songs that represents Redamancy as it continues to evolve.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our music combines elements of modern rock with classic undertones, reminiscent of bands ranging from Heart to Foo Fighters to Paramore. It’s our hopefully unique take on a familiar sound, often interlaced with themes of vengeance and vulnerability. The result is meant to expose the fiery side of heartbreak and the empowerment of self-actualization.
Our sophomore EP, ‘Revival,’ explores the trials and victories that come with embracing a new chapter of life. The songs are a reflection of the growth and change that we all experience. We wanted to meet that with gracefulness and energy that allows listeners to find their own empowerment within the songs.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Being able to do what you want in life, when and how you want to do it, without needing to compromise in order to make ends meet. “Do what you love, love what you do” – The rest will all fall into place.
