Exploring Life & Business with Larissa Mundwiler of Rooted In Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Larissa Mundwiler.

Hi Larissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began when I became a full-hearted yogi back in 2011. I became fully immersed in the community and decided to give it my all and enroll in yoga teacher training in Chicago, IL. I then moved to San Francisco and wanted to deepen my practice so I signed up for another YTT in Costa Rica. I stayed there for a few weeks and dived head first into the beauty and magic of Ayurveda/yoga. I taught yoga for a while when I moved back to California but knew I wanted to continue to grow in the holistic, wellness community. I decided to enroll in Cosmetology school at Cinta Aveda, SF. When I was learning about the skin I felt a light turn on inside of me. I struggled with my own skin for years. I was always looking for the next best thing to try. I realized this has been a passion of mine for quite some time and couldn’t wait to see where this career would take me. I’ve always been interested in the natural side of healing. After school, I saw a holistic esthetician to help heal some problems I was having with my skin and it changed the way I viewed skin care. Putting the two together I ended up here. I’m passionate about helping you heal your skin from the inside out and incorporating natural, organic modalities to do so.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I worked pretty hard to get where I am today – there were definitely some challenges to get here. Once I started working as an esthetician though, I feel like it has been a pretty smooth road. I’ve listened to my heart and gut and knew one day I wanted to own my own business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I have fallen into my niche by wanting to heal my own skin through holistic aesthetics. I started doing facial massage and incorporating oils so I could avoid getting Botox and fillers for as long as possible. Noticed that not only did facial massage plump/smooth out my skin – it helped de-puff and reduce blemishes. I then moved into incorporating Gua Sha and saw dramatic changes in fine lines, overall complexion and dullness. I couldn’t wait to see the changes I could make for other people’s skin and to be a part of their own skin journey. Fast forward to now – I have worked on many, many faces and every time someone sees a before and after photo, they are just as shocked as the time before. I like to use facial cupping, sculpting massage and Gua Sha in all of my facials. These facials are great for someone looking to increase blood flow, help reduce fine lines/wrinkles, TMJ, facial tightness, facial puffiness, lymphatic drainage and to help overall complexion.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the climate in Denver. It’s always sunny, even in the winter. I love how much live music, outdoor activities, holistic offerings and community-oriented things we have to offer. My family and I are big hikers too so having the mountains in our backyard is priceless.
