Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Scott.
Hi Erin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a cartoonist trying to create my own cartoon. I have always had a passion for drawing and creating things. I went to school at UCCS University of Colorado, Colorado Springs with my bachelor’s in Communications Digital Filmmaking. I watched my dad draw a lot when I was younger and thought I can draw alongside of him. I have a cartoon out which is called Life’s a Tripp. It a black cartoon with me and my cousins in it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it hasn’t. My struggles have been doing the work all by myself. Market it all myself. I haven’t found anyone yet to help me draw, or write some of the stories for the cartoon. Spreading the word has been really hard. Not a lot of people like things pushed in their faces either. They are hard at critiques but also expecting too much from one person doing all the work. I have learned to do this for myself, and things will follow through when they are supposed to.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most proud of my Cartoon Life’s a Tripp on youtube. I have created this cartoon all by myself. It’s a black cartoon consisting of, my sister, my dad, my three cousins and my two close friends being in the cartoon with me. It has been a blast. I love seeing the work I have been doing for myself. What sets me apart from others is that not many others can draw cartoons. They don’t have the imagination like mine to create many stories after the other. Cartooning is a lot of work hard work and I have shown to have the personalities of my family and friends on-screen to help it all come together.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I hope to see my cartoon to be bigger than it is right now. Maybe up to 100,000 subscribers on youtube. A better job and people who watch it once in a while.
