Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramon Commare.
Hi Ramon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Originally born and raised in the Philippines and later moved to the states. I joined the Navy straight out of High School and that is where I discovered my passion for photography when I started traveling. I then was able to meet some other content creators and we collaborated on multiple projects. I have since separated from active duty and now reside in Denver as I am starting to kickstart my career as a travel/lifestyle photographer as a civilian.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been up and down. The transition from active duty to civilian life was tough. I did a road trip from Kentucky to Denver and getting settled here was very stressful as I had to do it alone.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in travel/lifestyle photography/videography. I also do portrait shoots for clients; however, I gravitate toward the travel side. I am most proud of my progress in photography, I started taking it seriously in 2020 and have progressed quite a bit since then, part of that is thanks to my peers for pushing me and breaking barriers. I believe what sets me apart from others is my commitment to my craft. Whether that was driving cross-country to a place, I’ve never been in to start my career or doing a solo 5hr road trip in the dead of night just purely to shoot content.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I am at my own pace. I shouldn’t compare my progress to other creators.
