Life & Work with Stereo Ontario

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stereo Ontario. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Stereo Ontario is a Psychedelic Rock Band from Colorado Springs, Colorado. It started as a bedroom band founded by guitarist and singer Stuart Lane. Since then, the band has grown into a trio with Jon Galardo on Drums and Collin Roscamp on Bass. Since 2018 4 Studio albums, 1 Ep, and 1 Single has been recorded and released. The most popular song from these releases, Latitudes, is about to break 10000 streams on Spotify, currently, a live album is soon to be released and a new studio album is in the works. in 2022 Stereo Ontario played 26 shows in 4 states and 12 different cities.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Yes and no. In the Spring of 2020, we had booked out about 10 shows and everything ended up being cancelled because of the circumstances. Another struggle has been lineup changes. It’s not easy getting 3 people to be able to have the same schedule and common goal in life which leaves to certain members being replaced over the years. Other than that, it seems like this band is always in the right place at the right time and continually keeps reaching new fans. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Genre Wise, we like to be known as a psychedelic rock band but other have called us a prog rock band and even “the Grateful Dead with Motorhead.” The live show is a place for people to come and hang out and see some really rippin jams and some far-out trances. We are here to take people on a trip. Sam of We Are Not a Glum Lot described us as “a band that makes stoned be people go ‘WOAH!”‘ 

I’m most proud of getting this band to the level it is at. When Stereo Ontario started, I just wanted to make an album. I never thought we would be able to release 4 albums, go on tour, and have fans wanting us to release more music. 

What sets us apart is that the songs really let the personality of the player shine through which brings a different dynamic to every show. We also regularly go into improvised jams and never play the same setlist twice so the live experience is always fresh for the audience.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
What most people might not know is Stereo Ontario is completely independent. We make all our own album covers, we record all the music, we mix it, we distribute it, we promote it, and we write it. We do all the booking and connections so that touring is possible.
