Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Price.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out in photography purely to capture family events when my daughter was born around 17 years ago. From there I got into landscape photography and weather photography. As my family travelled to national parks around the country, I really invested in some good lenses and took several online type courses, and watched a ton of YouTube videos on how to photograph a scene as well as editing. I’m drawn to vibrant colors, beautiful scenic drives, and just wide-open spaces. I’ve always loved Colorado and all the views around every curve and corner.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Photography has its ups and downs. I will go months without shooting anything substantial then I get the bug and set out for places like Colorado and get inspired. Photograph orders seem to come in waves when they do come. I don’t do a good job of advertising myself and my work but that is something I need to work on in 2023 and up my game there!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
On my actual career side, I’m in replenishment for a Colorado-based sporting goods/hunting-related company that services some of the largest retailers in the country. I just switched to this company a few months ago and have already hit the ground running and making some good inroads with my customers. My analytical and Excel skills really help set me apart and help me tell the story using facts and graphs.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is believe in yourself. But to also keep learning. I continually look up how do to extra things in Excel, photography, editing. You just can’t stop learning. There is always some new way or trick to learn.
