Exploring Life and Business with Lori Young-Hayes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Young-Hayes.

Hi Lori, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The story of my business starts the day my marriage ended. I encountered the woman I was always meant to be and forged a path to realize dreams left untouched.

Through many hours and years of planning, growing, and hard work I finally stepped out in faith to start my business full-time. In 2019, I set out to be a professional speaker and writer. By the end of 2022, I was a Certified Enneagram Coach with clients all over the United States. As speaking opportunities opened up, I was able to expand my business to offer Enneagram intensive team training. I’ve grown my business exponentially through being open to imagining greater possibilities than I originally thought possible and the willing to make course corrections along the way.

But my story isn’t about the business I’ve built.

My story is the example I’ve set for other women struggling to find their authenticity when they’ve been told who they should be. My story is triumph over a broken heart and a broken self-image. My story begins and ends with a magnificent faith in God, who provides the truth of who we are and who He created us to be.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to get to where I am today has been incredibly challenging, but only because I’m a messy human being who had to do the messy work of undoing years of lies I’d come to believe about myself; “you’re not good enough,” “you’re not smart enough,” “you’re too nice to be successful.” The list continues on for miles if I let my thoughts go there.

And therein lies the trick to making the way smoother, get your mind right.

My biggest struggle was my own darn self and once I got my mind right, changed from scarcity to abundance and believed in my own authenticity, I overcame.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lori Young, LLC?
I specialize in helping people have better relationships with one another and communicate with each other about the hard things without making their relationships worse.

I work with leadership teams, staff and boards to train them about how the Enneagram can unlock the mystery of the guy that pushes all your buttons. Nothing good happens in business if the people aren’t good to each other. I provide a variety of one-day to weekend retreat trainings as well as continuing education. I work with the leadership to customize a training specific to your staff’s needs.

I’m also a speaker for Christian women who secretly say to themselves, “If you really knew me, could you still love me?” They are led by the narrative they cannot be authentic and loved by people or God. I teach women about the three foundational truths of authenticity; truth, trust and territory and how to implement them in their relationships.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Find a mentor two or three steps ahead. This serves three purposes:
1. They will still have the memory of being where you are and can easily relate to your current challenges.
2. They will be far enough ahead to know progress can be accomplished.
3. They will be able to reimagine the steps it took them to get to where they are and articulate the way.

My role as a mentee is always to remain curious and teachable. Ask all the questions. Take in all the advice, even if I’ve heard it before and even if I think I’ve already taken the step. And if a mentor relationship leaves me feeling uncomfortable, I’m not shy about either asking for what I need or finding a new mentor.
