Daily Inspiration: Meet Andrea Doss

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Doss.

Hi Andrea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My interest in photography was sparked when I went to summer camp as a kid. Fast forward to my first wedding at 19, I realized how much I loved being a part of a couple’s wedding day and capturing that part of their relationship story. I started photographing weddings and eventually fell in love with adventure elopements, seeing how couples could bring the focus back onto their love and incorporate all the things they wanted to into their own unique day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur is definitely not easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding. Owning your own business on your own can be very isolating and, especially through the pandemic, I came face to face with a lot of mindsets towards business that had to shift if I wanted to keep going. I solve problems both for myself and my clients every day, and I had to find ways to settle into a more effective routine and continue to move forward as a creative business owner. From recognizing the ebbs and flows of my energy and creativity to prioritizing my mental health and relationships with loved ones, I’ve found a weekly routine that works well for me! I’m so grateful for the technology we have at our fingertips that allows our lives to become simpler and more automated so that I can spend my time on the things that matter most.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In a culture where the typical wedding day is focused solely on tradition, throwing a really great party for hundreds of guests, and prioritizing what other people want, I help couples see there’s a more fulfilling way to get married. I believe starting your marriage off right is so valuable in setting the tone for the beginning of your marriage, and it should be done in a way that excites and fulfills you. Couples who don’t see the point in spending thousands of dollars on “stuff” that won’t last have a desire to get something more out of their wedding day, and that’s where eloping comes in. While eloping used to mean running away to get married in secret, now its definition is simply to have an intentional wedding day filled with things that bring joy to a couple and focus on their own story. Every couple is different and there shouldn’t be a formula for a wedding day, which is why eloping is such a liberating way to celebrate the next chapter of a couple’s story together.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I work with all kinds of couples who don’t feel inspired by the idea of planning a big wedding day and would rather celebrate with only each other or up to 15 of their closest family and friends.
