Check Out Sulema Sanchez Munoz’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sulema Sanchez Munoz.

Sulema, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my business back in March 2020, right when the pandemic was happening. Everything began with me looking through Instagram reels and seeing so many people baking and decorating cakes. It looked very easy so I decided to give it a try. Let me clarify IT WAS NOT EASY AT ALL. The first cake I ever made was for my cousin’s birthday and everyone loved it, so I decided to use a $75 gift card I had from amazon and ordered the basics.

I created my Instagram page and started posting on the Facebook market offering my goods. At first, I only made cakes for friends and family but around October 2020 I posted my first giveaway on Instagram and since then I’ve had orders almost every week, Some are busier than others where I tend to have 2-4 cakes every weekend. It was difficult to teach myself since there wasn’t many one on one teaching classes available, So I did most of the learning through Youtube.

I practiced multiple recipes until I found one that I truly loved and that my customers love. I’ve met so many wonderful people since I decided to start my business, some customers have become frequent, some have become my friends and some come and go. If it wasn’t for my customers that show and support my business I wouldn’t be where I am at today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always struggles because making customized cakes isn’t always easy, it is always a challenge to create whatever the customer’s vision. I always try to perfect every single detail so that the cake meets all the customer’s expectations. There are days when I have no orders at all and some days when I even have up to 5 cakes a week.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am specialized in Custom cakes and desserts for dessert tables, my best-selling items are Springfling cakes and Churro cheesecakes. I also make Wedding cakes those are the most fun and stressful to make. I am proud of everything I have accomplished, I always look back at my first cakes and compare them to the ones I make now and let me tell you, I take in a good laugh of joy when I see how much I have evolved on my own because I never thought I would want this to become my forever business.

I’ve never paid much attention to see what sets me apart from others since I think everyone is unique in their way, but what I can tell you is that every cake order I take is because I will make it with love and dedication keeping always in mind the customers needs, I pay much attention to every detail so I can ensure you, you will be getting the cakes of your dreams.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
It makes me happy to see others happy with what they receive, the look on their faces when they pick up their order is just incredible, Receiving compliments has always been my favorite. The support from my family especially my husband’s is very important to me because he is the one that’s always cheering for me and motivating me to look more towards the future and innovate new things.

It might sound funny but what also makes me happy is to take pictures of the final product and box it up so it can be ready to head out the door, That my friend is a stress reliever.
