Rising Stars: Meet Jayy Romero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayy Romero.

Jayy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been an artist at heart. I first picked up a pencil when I was 3 years old and it immediately became a passion. I thrived for years being an artist when I was younger and it was the only outlet that made me happy.

When I was 17 I wanted to go to college for graphic design. I got shot down by my parents and had no support so I felt defeated and seemed like I had given up on my dream of being an artist. But now I know I was just putting it on hold.

After graduating high school I became extremely depressed and developed a drug addiction that cost me about 8 years of my life. During that time I didn’t think about art anymore. I didn’t believe I was worth doing what I loved for a living. I lost myself and forgot I had a passion.

One day 5 years ago I decided I couldn’t live like that anymore and I decided to fight for my life. During this period of getting clean, I rediscovered myself. I remembered that 3-year-old girl that had a passion. So I picked up that pencil again and began to draw. I couldn’t afford school so I started to teach myself how to draw digitally and began to venture into graphic design completely self-taught.

I started my own business based on my online persona “Jayy Doll” and named it Jayy Doll Designs. I began to offer logos and received many jobs during the first few months of launching my business. Ever since I started I’ve had consistent jobs monthly and 100% satisfied clientele which I am more than proud to say. I create relationships with my clients and provide them with exemplary customer service which allows me to create the perfect design exactly how my client envisions it.

I still mainly create custom logos but I now also offer design resumes/cover letters, custom t-shirt designs, tattoo designs, digital social media ads, highlight icon designs, real estate ads, and social much more. My business is growing every day and I am continually grateful for all my current and future clients I can’t wait to see where my business takes me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Fighting through addiction and building my business from the ground up completely self-taught.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a self-taught graphic designer. I specialize in completely custom logos and digital designs. I am known for making every client’s vision come to life. I am most proud of having a success rate of 100% with all of my clients. What sets me apart from others is my imagination; I can come up with anything a client might want even if all they give me is a few keywords for their design.

The majority of my clients have a difficult time knowing what they want and ask for my advice; 100% of the time I come up with a design my clients love and they always trip out on how I make their vision come to life based on my intuition about my client and their business.

Currently, I am only available on social media. Due to the enormous support and clientele, I’ve received from social media, I have yet to venture into creating a website. Maybe in the future. People can work/collab with me on:

I can also be found on sites like Redbubble under Jayy Doll Designs. I will be eventually moving to Printify to sell my designs which will be available on products and in prints/stickers. I am also in the works of creating an Etsy shop so I can sell designs that can be printed or used for crafting (i.e Cricut crafting).
