Life & Work with Jori Halpern

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jori Halpern.

Hi Jori, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a true blend of different cultures and experiences. I was born and raised in Fairplay, Colorado but at the age of 7, my family moved to Oregon. I had the opportunity to live in Tel Aviv and study abroad in London, which broadened my perspective and enhanced my passion for people and their stories.

This led me to pursue photography full-time in 2021. I launched a creative platform called GEN H$TL, which is dedicated to uplifting and amplifying the voices of young creatives from all around the globe. My main passions are music and fashion and I believe that by telling people’s stories through my lens, I can help bridge the gap between cultures and create a more inclusive world.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a bumpy journey, that’s for sure. Deciding to pursue a path that differs from the norm is never easy, but that’s what makes it worth it.

Even if you’re on a more socially accepted path, there will still be obstacles to overcome. But that’s life, it’s full of ups and downs. And it’s through these bumps and challenges that we are truly tested and learn the most valuable lessons.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Music has always been a huge passion of mine and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to pursue a career directly related to it.

As a visual thinker, when I listen to music, I can’t help but see a whole story unfold in my mind. And my love for fashion and storytelling only adds to that experience. I’ve been able to create a unique lane for myself, by combining my passions for music and fashion and using my skills to capture and tell the stories of others.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Interesting question! I believe the future is shaped by the balance between creators and consumers. With the world becoming more and more digitized, I think we’re on the brink of a creator economy boom where there’s a higher demand for unique and innovative ideas.

As a creative, I’m constantly thinking about how to create multi-sensory experiences for my audience and push the boundaries of traditional consumption. Looking forward, I think AI will play a significant role in all industries and it’s up to us as creators to decide how we want to integrate and utilize it. It could be a game-changer for the creative field and it’ll be exciting to see how it evolves in the next 5 years.
