Hidden Gems: Meet Megan & Nicole Michelena of Zenchronicity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan & Nicole Michelena.

Hi Megan & Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Our story starts ten years ago in Alanon’s rooms trying to deal with our fathers’ alcoholism and our mothers’ mental health issues. On and off, therapists’ couches trying to find a way out of the trauma cycles and painful relationships in our lives.

No one had answers, or the answers given were narcissistic victimhood maintained that perpetuated the problems. We both had different coping mechanisms, from yoga to perfectionism, to alcohol, drugs, and sex. Hookup culture infects every aspect of society, driving most millennials into even more mental health crises.

We knew there had to be another way, and that is where plant medicine came in; it connected us to a higher source and higher purpose and allowed us to see the changes needed in our lives. There is a reason shamanic medicine has been around for thousands of years while western medicine is around 70 years old. Zenchronicity was born from a new but old way of returning to self and remembering who we came here to be!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When is starting a business ever a smooth road? Most people told us we would end up in prison. That didn’t stop us! I know the power of these plants/fungi and their being illegal is and was based on control. Look at why they outlawed a sacred practice of peyote for the Native Americans, and I quote, ” they could not civilize them.”

When the mind becomes free of the programs being fed, the choice becomes apparent, and society becomes free! It has been a daily commitment to a higher vision, but we will never stop! Smooth is no fun anyways when you are part of a grassroots movement; nothing is simple other than basic knowledge or right and wrong.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are here for those searching for a different way, an old way but with a new energy! We use plant medicine to treat trauma, once called incurable away, which doesn’t involve a life sentence of these drugs forever—a choice between feeling numb or feeling alive and taking your life back.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
People used to call us rebels without a cause, but now we have a cause! Both were pretty straight edge though Megan was more of a troublemaker than Nicole, or Nicole got caught less. We had both bought into the system at that point: go to school, get a job, get married, and then have kids. Don’t be other, don’t be different… seems crazy now, but who doesn’t buy in at that age?!
