Rising Stars: Meet Paul Marcotte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Marcotte.

Paul, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started by never saying no to any job. I felt that the experience would be worth the little or no pay and I think that is good advice for people interested in starting as freelance photographers. I am at the point now where I can be more selective with the jobs I take and if I feel the job is not a fit for me it is okay to say no.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A struggle that comes with my occupation is when a business will offer you “Exposure” instead of paying you your going rate.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My wildlife photography can be very exciting especially when I am photographing Bears, Mountain lions, or any other predator. The goal is always to get shots and not affect the behavior of the animal I am photographing this is achieved, in most cases by using a good telephoto lens. You can also use a blind to conceal your location from the animals. I am most known for the wide variety of animals I capture.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel that my willingness to try any type of photography has helped to contribute to my success.
