Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Mulemwa Siisii.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Zambia, Africa, but I later migrated to America and settled in New York where I’ve been living for 20 years. I have over 15 years of experience in the financial industry, Currently working as a financial center manager. As a dreamer, I have and continue to have a passion for making substantive bonds with audiences, and helping to inspire people to reach for their dreams.
Being an immigrant has been one of the most challenging and extraordinary experiences of my life. I have had some challenges and triumphs along the way. Everything I have gone through has shaped me and It inspired me to start my podcast “Concrete Pastures: An African Immigrant Story” as a platform to reach out to fellow immigrants and dreamers. My goal is to provide a platform for myself and others to share their stories.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a podcaster hasn’t been a smooth journey.
In the beginning, I was worried about a lot of things namely, how my voice sounded, how the audience was going to receive the message, my intentions, and the stories. I felt like I was forever fighting a lot of self-doubts that showed up and lived rent-free in my head.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the host and Creator of the Concrete Pastures podcast. It’s a space where I highlight immigrant stories from all over the world. Our conversations focus on guests reflecting on their journey from their home country to their current country. We discuss how their immigration journey has shaped them.
The goal is to deconstruct the world’s view of immigrant status and unlock the joys, laughs, and bravery that being a dreamer brings. I have learned a lot in my career, I had to be resilient and have the courage to achieve everything I have been able to. Our library of stories is exceptionally inspirational.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My children are first. Being on the podcast and inspiring others gives me joy.
My dedication and commitment to serving others with no expectations. Helping others shift their minds on how they view the world of Immigrants and dreamers – Podcasting is my happy place.
