Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Schulze.
Hi Nina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins with a diagnosis of Esophageal spasms. After having my doctor laugh in my face and tell me that I would forever be bound to taking pain pills and antacids, and as a person who barely if ever took an aspirin for a headache, this was a hard blow for me. I knew there had to be a better way.
I began to research what I could about esophageal spasms. I kept track of the spasms, and what I was eating (to see if there was a correlation- which there wasn’t), I timed the length of each spasm and how the pain pills worked (the spasms were over before the pills kicked in). That’s when I realized that these spasms had nothing to do with what I was eating, and everything to do with my stress levels. And so my goal was to get my stress under control. I was already practicing daily meditation and yoga, which helped a little. A friend introduced me to aromatherapy and that was huge on reducing my stress and I learned how to stop my spasms in their tracks. But what I really needed was to figure out a way to stop them together.
Then, I started practicing Reiki and noticed that twice-a-day treatments did the job. I have been spasm-free for three years now! Backtracking just a little, my diagnosis came after a lot of health issues that my family and I were dealing with and seemed to never get answers for. We were so frustrated because we weren’t being listened to.
And so, after I was able to free myself of those horrid spasms (we’re talking feeling like you’re being punched in the chest and choked at the same time), I wanted to be able to offer people the help that I needed when my doctor refused to listen to me. I wanted to offer another way for them to feel better and to have an advocate for them on their own personal medical journey. Today, I own my Integrative Practice in Lakewood where I help people not only heal but work alongside their doctor to help them to live healthier and happier lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wouldn’t be a good journey without a couple of bumps in the road! Has it been a smooth road? No. But, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to learn from my mistakes without those bumps. One of my recent struggles was realizing that I was working too much! I had a nine-day work week ahead of me – four days doing independent contract work and five days working an event- and I thought to myself, I didn’t sign up for this!
Part of the reason for starting my own business was so that I had the flexibility to work when I wanted, not to overwork, hurt myself or burn myself out. I had completely neglected my own needs and desires and just threw myself into my work. So the lesson learned was that I needed to re-evaluate what I was doing and implement good self-care stat. And that’s exactly what I did.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Nina Schulze IHP was formally The Wholeness Hut until I recently felt as though I needed to take full ownership of what it is that I do and offer. As an Integrative Health Practitioner, I offer a variety of modalities that offer stress relief, and relaxation help to reduce pain and release stagnated energy (trauma/unresolved emotions), and some even call it “pampering”. I also offer health and nutritional support and will be an advocate for you within your medical journey- making sure you are being both seen and heard. I believe that a relationship between conventional medicine and complementary medicine can coexist helping people not only live happier, healthier lives but to find and cure the root cause of dis-ease.
I specialize in energy healing and am well-known for offering a practice called Huna Kane or Integrative Energy Body Work, which is a spiraling technique that moves stagnated energy up and out of the body. I am also a Reiki Master Teacher, Master Hypnotherapist, Akashic Records Master, and Kundalini and Yoga Nidra Instructor. I think what sets me apart from others is that I utilize all of my knowledge in my sessions. If you’re coming to me for a session and I notice that your root chakra is deficient, not only am I working on getting that back in balance, but I’m showing you how to strengthen your foundation, and giving you recommendations on how to work on it at home with acupressure, foods, and activities.
Brand-wise, I will always be proud of holding true to the belief that I see you in your wholeness. When you’re feeling broken or defeated, shattered or torn, I still see you as a whole and my job is to get you to see yourself the way that I can see you. At Nina Schulze IHP, I offer Reiki, Huna Kane, Past Life Regressions, Inner Child Healing, Akashic Records readings, meditations, and Kundalini yoga classes, as well as Reiki training. I am also an Independent Contract Reader at For Heaven’s Sake Metaphysical.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I grew up and have lived in the Denver Metro area almost all of my life, so my likes and dislikes about the area have of course changed with my age and as time passes. One thing that I love about Colorado is our wildlife. I live about 10 minutes outside of Denver and I get deer in my front yard, foxes and coyotes that run down the street, and I always enjoy hearing the birds sing in the morning.
One thing that I dislike about our city that I recently realized after spending a week out of the country, was how much it smells like exhaust. I guess I was so used to the smell that I never noticed it before, but it’s definitely ick for me.
