Daily Inspiration: Meet VOYAGR

Today we’d like to introduce you to VOYAGR. They and their team shared their story with us below:

VOYAGR was formed in 2022 as a passion project of singer/songwriters AJ Jabaji, Rachel Ball, and drummer John Morano. Taking inspiration from artists like Wild Rivers, Donovan Woods, and Phoebe Bridgers, the band released its first single (“Lover’s Lie”) in May 2022.

The rest of the summer was spent playing shows, weddings, breweries, and coffee shops, and finishing what would become their first EP. In November, the band released its debut EP, “Think of You,” and is currently working on its follow-up. Their newest single, ‘Born a Believer’ is due out in June of this year.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Following the death of a close friend of AJ’s in the Fall of 2022, the band faced a setback in recording, releasing, and developing new songs. Our upcoming song, “Something More” speaks to the aftermath of losing a loved one and the feelings of loss and desperation that accompany those feelings.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
VOYAGR aims to write and record brutally honest songs that resonate with anyone that may listen. Our songs are often about loss…the loss of friendships, relationships, and identity, and overcoming the feelings of grief and emptiness that so often accompany these emotions.

When we released our first song (Lover’s Lie) we knew we struck a chord by telling a story about unrequited love. The feedback we received was more than we could’ve anticipated. That is still our most requested song when we play live and is by far our most streamed track.

We believe our authenticity and vulnerability are what sets us apart and we can’t wait to share our new songs throughout this summer.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is to give one another grace. Life happens and everyone moves at their own pace. For us, it was a matter of finding out the best way to operate that respected the other person’s space.
