Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesus Garcia.
Hi Jesus, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started in NM.
Playing soccer! Soccer has been around me since I was 5 years old. This game has brought many opportunities to me, such as winning state in high school, getting a full-ride scholarship, playing pro level, coaching, motivational speaker, and now business.
Having my school put my name in the gym is why I keep representing the youth and those chasing in my hometown. After high school, there isn’t much opportunity for those, and me showing my background on all my steps on how I made it out is my biggest accomplishment. I hope many more make it out and reach their dreams.
This jerseys business is called, Inspired Futbol Shop, inspired to be like the greats. Jerseys is my way of giving back to my community and those who can’t afford their favorite player jersey. Having their idol on the back has to be the biggest motivation any athlete would love to have.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Obstacles are always around, but my team readjusts and keeps sticking to the plan. Growing the game to youth up to adults.
I’m from NM and soccer wasn’t always the biggest sport in our state. Especially not having a pro team. Watching my idols on tv was my inspiration to keep chasing my dreams.
Today, I reached that goal and I just want to help that one kid that is always fighting to make it out no matter if it’s drugs, or depression I want to be the reason they keep moving forward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My drive to keep chasing my dream. I have a documentary being made as we speak about why I’m still playing the game around the country. I played college in Texas. Traveled and got called up to Team USA to play the Intercontinental Cup in Mexico in 2022. That was my biggest achievement yet.
But my why is my best friend, brother, who passed away in 2019. Guillermo Navarrete. Lack of support and motivation caused him to have an accident. Since he left NM to chase my dream played on the biggest stage at a high level as I always talked about, “See you at the pros”.
Having my high school put my name up in their gymnasium forever. Has to be my biggest achievement. Not only do I represent my family but my brother. I don’t do it for me, I do it for everybody who supported me and still do.
Giving back is what sets me apart, I did my career, and I represented my high school, family, friends, and coaches to show that dreams are real. Jerseys is my way of giving back to all dream chasers.
What does success mean to you?
Helping someone else in need. If you’re not working on your dreams but you are helping someone in need, that’s a win for everybody.
Helping others is my definition of success.
