Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Berlanga.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my cosmetology license senior year of high school. I graduated high school and passed my exam all in the same month. I progressed in this field quickly because I discovered my passion for confidence.

The ability to boost confidence in a person was my motivation. I began with nails, hair, and makeup for weddings, then grew with trends in the industry.

I dabbled for 12 years in skincare, then moved into eyelash extensions, lash lifts, lash & brow tinting, eyebrow waxing, lamination, and semi-permanent makeup.

Through the years, I grew my business entirely. I opened my first business in Salinas, CA October 2011, then opened a second location in Spreckels, CA in 2022, and now relocated to Lakewood, CO opening a new lash and brow studio making that my 3rd location in the United States.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not a smooth road. This journey began with $300 in my pocket and a lot of GRIT.

I think the biggest struggle continues to be loyal, hard-working, determined, like-minded people. The staff I have are incredible and I hope to keep them around as long as possible.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have served 20 years in the beauty industry, I specialize in eyelash extensions and semi-permanent makeup.

What sets me apart is the ability to make my work look natural. The ability to enhance a person’s natural features without changing them drastically. I take pride in making my clients feel comfortable. Like we have known each other for years, and the ability to connect with them on a personal level.

I would love for people to know that eyelash extensions do not have to be costly or dramatic. I’d also like readers to know that semi-permanent makeup is not painful and should not be permanent when done with ease and by a skin professional.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I have been here for just shy of 3 months and I love the diversity. The selection of businesses in this area is phenomenal. There is so much creativity here.

I can’t say I don’t like anything yet. I haven’t been here long enough.
