Hidden Gems: Meet Alex Stovall of Red Beard’s Home Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Stovall.

Hi Alex, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my career as a Project Manager in commercial construction. My wife (Carolina) and I bought our first home and completely renovated the entire thing. We had to figure everything out along the way.

I had some knowledge of construction at that time, but was lacking for someone doing an entire renovation of a whole home. We learned a ton through the process, and I even started my first business (Handyman) a few years later.

After a couple of years and a lot more knowledge under my belt, I decided to start another business as a General Contractor, doing remodels and renovations. I have since been able to build my knowledge and my business (Red Beards Home Services) quite a bit, with the help of some great plumbers, electricians, tile guys, etc.

We focus on 2 main things, 1, do the job right, and 2, do the job as fast as we can, without sacrificing number 1. We are actually in the process of finalizing our first offering of a new business that we have started. Renovation University, where we teach people how to plan, design, and hire the right contractors, and buy the right products that will lead them to finishing their dream renovation.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I doubt if any business owner in history would say it was a smooth road. Anybody involved in the trades will tell you that good, reliable, trustworthy labor is difficult to find.

I have found that, for me, it is important to find good reliable people who will show up to and want to work and are willing to learn and grow. As we grew we began mostly specializing in bathrooms, kitchens, and basements but it took time for us to figure out where we were the most successful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Red Beard’s Home Services?
We are a home remodel business based out of the Denver metro area. I am a licensed general contractor and my wife and partner is a certified interior designer. Not only are we known for our specialization in kitchen, bathroom, and basement remodels; but we are known as being the face of the company. Yes, I am the guy behind the red beard.

As a general contractor, I have been able to find some of the best contractors in Colorado to help me get my projects done. I will never be hiring a guy I have never worked with just because he is the cheapest. We take deep pride in our work and want the results to show that.

We are extremely proud of the fact that we have built this company from the ground up and have been able to help so many people along the way. To date, about 75 % of our business is either repeat business or referral business and we are honored to have clients that continue to leave us amazing reviews.
