Life & Work with Zinnia Moon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zinnia Moon.

Zinnia Moon

Hi Zinnia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music has always been a part of my life. Growing up, I was always surrounded by music whether it was my dad jamming out on guitar or a record playing.

My love for music came very naturally. I got involved in music at a very young age, and have followed my passion and love for it ever since. Whether I was brushing my teeth, doing my hair, or playing outside, you would always find me singing or humming a new tune.

Originally starting in theater, I branched out and began learning ukulele and piano. At age 11, I began performing live gigs, following my older sister, Sahara Moon. I quickly realized that this was what I wanted to do as a career and found my true love for music. As I got older, I started writing songs and taking them more seriously. Ever since, I have been booking weekly gigs throughout the years, playing at weddings, festivals, and venues.

Now, I am a current student at Belmont University, studying Songwriting with a Music Business Major, pursuing my dream as a singer/songwriter and artist.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, the road has been pretty clear.

The biggest roadblock that I have experienced is writer’s, much like everyone else. To overcome this, I find myself taking a step back, and just observing other people and what is going on around me.

As a young writer, I don’t have enough life experiences to write consistently about my own life, therefore I listen to hear what the people around me are going through and lyrically paint a picture through their words.

By taking a step back and just watching, I can create relatable content, writing about other people’s experiences and struggles.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a pop singer-songwriter and artist from New Jersey, currently located in Nashville, Tennessee studying songwriting at Belmont University.

Setting me apart from others is my distinct and unique vocal tone and energy, creating a timeless performance. Captivating my audience with my lyrical ability, prevalent within my songwriting, I incorporate exuberant vocal inflections that appeal to today’s pop culture.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned along my journey is to simply believe in myself- You must believe in yourself before you expect others to believe in you.

I have learned to be confident within myself, my creativity, and throughout my work. Knowing who I am and my worth is very important in the music industry, and many industries alike. I have learned to manifest that great things are coming and wherever I land is where I am meant to be.
