Today we’d like to introduce you to Tha Seekah.
Hi Tha Seekah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My musical journey traces its roots back to my childhood, inspired by my father’s prowess as a saxophonist. This early exposure to music ignited a deep passion within me. By the age of 13, I was already captivating audiences, marking the beginning of a promising and vibrant musical career.
One of the highlights of my journey includes sharing the stage with renowned artists, which has been instrumental in my growth. I had the honor of opening for Devin The Dude at Smitty’s Greenlight Tavern on April 19th, 2022, and for Twisted Insane in Pueblo on March 9th, 2023, opportunities facilitated by Out the Box Entertainment and In The Cut Production. These performances significantly contributed to refining my stagecraft.
Additionally, my collaboration with Premier High Life dispensary led me to perform in Las Cruces, NM. There, I opened for DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia at the Canna Jams on August 20th, 2023, and also for Mann on December 2, 2023. These experiences were pivotal in expanding my musical horizons.
My ongoing collaboration with Niqqo da Vet, including an upcoming show on December 30th, 2023, at the Ultra Flat Black Gallery in Colorado Springs, has been a key part of my artistic journey this year.
In the studio, SVNTI has been a critical figure in my music production. He produced ‘Control’, a sensual reggaeton track that skillfully blends English and Spanish. This track, mixed and mastered by Roger James of Get Busy Living and Atlantic Records, has seen impressive success on Spotify.
Moreover, “Best We Thru,” produced by Ian Knox and blending East and West Coast styles, and “Separate Lives,” with a Jelly Roll-ish sound produced by Tatli from Hard Headed Entertainment, have showcased my musical versatility and depth.
My latest Afrobeat release, “In The Morning,” produced again by SVNTI and launched on December 12, 2023, further demonstrates my commitment to exploring a variety of musical styles and connecting with a global audience.
This journey is not just a musical one; it is a narrative of passion, resilience, and continuous evolution. From early performances that captivated audiences to opening for iconic figures in the music industry, each experience has been a step towards artistic growth, pushing the boundaries of music and establishing a profound connection with fans worldwide.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. My journey was marred by toxic relationships, both personal and professional, that hindered my progress. Doubts from my partners and my obsessive tendencies added to the challenges.
Furthermore, becoming a parent brought its own set of responsibilities, which impacted my path.
Additionally, I felt a strong need to prove myself, leading me to hustle while pursuing my degree in computer science. This drive saw me selling anything I could get my hands on, a phase I now recognize as misguided. However, the most significant hurdle was my struggle with drug addiction, particularly methamphetamine, for about eight years.
Overcoming this addiction, which I have successfully managed for the past 12 years, was a turning point. This experience of conquering such a challenging phase of my life now fuels my passion to inspire and motivate others facing similar struggles. I understand their journey, for I have walked that path myself.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Thank you for the opportunity to share about my dual career. During the day, I run my own IT business, Searching 4 IT LLC, where I cater to small businesses and residential clients as a Managed Service Provider (MSP). My business model is unique as it operates on a members-only basis, which is not only innovative but also a strategic way to fund my true passion – music.
What sets me apart in the music industry is my relentless drive, a keen ear for melody, and my creative songwriting abilities. I have a knack for writing hit records, a skill honed through my understanding of song structure and melody.
Over time, I’ve learned the importance of trusting my instincts. Collaborating with industry talents like Roger James and Mike Steel has further polished my skills as an artist, adding layers of sophistication to my work.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
In my journey, I’ve adopted the philosophy that everyone I meet has something valuable to teach me, which has been my alternative to having a traditional mentor. This approach means actively listening and learning from the diverse experiences and skills of those around me, from colleagues to industry connections.
I believe networking is not just about expanding your contacts but truly engaging with others to exchange knowledge and perspectives. What has worked well for me is attending industry events, participating in online forums, and being genuinely curious about others’ experiences.
I also strive to give back by sharing my insights and experiences, fostering a two-way street of mentorship. Whether I’m learning from others or offering guidance, each interaction is a chance to grow and contribute to the community.
