Check Out Nicole Magelssen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Magelssen.

Nicole Magelssen

Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a virtual assistant for ten years. Mainly, I was virtual assisting as a side hustle and worked another job. When Covid 19 hit, I was laid off from my job and I was forced to make a decision: get another job or try to make virtual assistance my full source of income. I decided to build my business.

I found clients in the Denver area and built my business to the point I needed to hire an assistant to help me with the work. I ended up having to hire a second assistant and then a third. At that point, I realized that I needed to restructure my business. I restructured it to become an agency and have a team of 35+ virtual assistants and an amazing core team of 4.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I remember having several conversations with my husband about calling it quits. I had one phone call with a family member asking them if they’d be interested in buying it or taking it over.

I hadn’t built enough structure around my business, wasn’t bringing in the right clients, and wasn’t taking home money but was working all of the time. I wasn’t sure how much longer I could do what I was doing. The virtual assistants I had hired were making more money than me. I was exhausted, overworked, and frustrated.

I was weeks away from going back to being a virtual assistant when I found new avenues to get quality clients and had the revenue needed to solidify the structure of my business. There have still been rough months but I find so much joy in what I do that I’m here for the long haul.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the founder/CEO of Alpine Virtual, a virtual assistant agency. We have a team of 35+ virtual assistants who are all US-based. We offer a lot of services, but virtual executive assisting is our bread and butter.

We‌ focus on pairing ‌CEOs‌ ‌and‌ ‌businesses‌ with ‌US-based‌ virtual ‌executive‌ ‌assistants‌ ‌who‌ ‌are‌ ‌dependable,‌ ‌professional,‌ ‌and experienced, ‌I vet everyone on our team through an extensive 5-step vetting process and we only hire an average of 1% of the US-based applicants. One‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌advantages‌ ‌of ‌working‌ ‌with‌ ‌Alpine‌ ‌Virtual‌ ‌is‌ ‌that‌ ‌if‌ ‌your‌ ‌VA‌ ‌were‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌sick‌ ‌or‌ ‌go‌ ‌on‌ ‌vacation‌ ‌we‌ ‌provide‌ an up-to-speed‌ ‌fill-in‌ ‌free‌ ‌of‌ ‌charge.‌ ‌You’ll‌ ‌never‌ ‌have‌ ‌to‌ ‌hire‌ ‌again!‌

I know that there are giant virtual assistant agencies out there and there are freelancers. We like to think of ourselves as the best of both worlds. You are a valued, known client at Alpine but we also have a perfectly sized talent pool to draw from.

What matters most to you?
What matters the most to me is customer and VA satisfaction. Having been a virtual assistant for over ten years, it is very important to me to create a space where my team of VAs can feel empowered, learn, grow, and enjoy what they do. It is incredibly important to me that they have a team of support behind them.

It’s also incredibly important to me that our clients are satisfied and their businesses are growing. Both client and VA goals and needs are at the forefront of everything I do. We are deeply committed to understanding their unique challenges, proving impeccable sport, and delivering results that exceed their expectations.

Their trust and happiness drive me to consistently deliver top-notch service, tailored to their specific needs. Knowing that I’ve contributed to both the client’s and the VA’s success and made their professional life easier and more efficient is truly the most fulfilling aspect of my role.
