Meet Jordan Pendleton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Pendleton.

Jordan Pendleton

Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was in my mid-20s, going on my 4th year of being a financial advisor and I looked like I had everything going for me. During those early years of my career, I managed to achieve a lot in a very short amount of time.

Earning great money and many notable industry and company awards, driving a nice new car, living in a great apartment in downtown Denver, and traveling a lot. But what I became good at hiding from the rest of the world was that the inner parts of my life were falling apart at the seams.

My health was deteriorating from working 60-80 hours per week. I was losing my hair due to severe scalp psoriasis that I had developed due to stress and anxiety. I was drinking heavily on the weekends and “casually” almost every day. My relationships were not solid and I had severe “commitment issues”. And on top of it all, I was slowly slipping into debt. As a financial advisor.

While I had all the financial education and certifications and even a bachelor’s degree in Finance & a minor in economics, there seemed to be something I was “missing”. It led me on a journey of understanding why I truly did what I was doing with money on a deeper level – as well as why I did everything in my life.

What I found was so transformational to my life and my finances that I began coaching others in this area as well! This is where Mind | Body | Wallet was born and now I get to help other passionate entrepreneurs break free from patterns of debt, anxiety, and fears about money, and find their purpose through the process!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building my business, and brand, and finding my way in the world of entrepreneurship has been anything but smooth and easy. While my actual job as a coach comes quite naturally for me and there is flow in working with my clients, as anyone knows in business and entrepreneurship, there are so many hats you have to wear on any given day.

My two biggest challenges have come around marketing and advertising myself as well as navigating being a mother of two and running a business. I have the heart to serve many different types of people and solve lots of different kinds of problems, and I have a million different ideas on any given day. While this can be a huge gift of mine, it can also be a curse because I can end up very spread thin, trying to do way too much, and not gaining as much traction as I would like.

Both of these challenges of marketing and motherhood have ultimately pushed me (in the best way possible) to get crystal clear on who I serve, how I work with people, and to be very intentional with my time and energy on any given day. It’s been really hard and uncomfortable for me – but also so life-giving to be more focused so that I can spend time and be present with my two daughters, husband, and family as well!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Money is a very complicated and emotionally charged topic, right?! There are so many strategies, apps, and tactical solutions out there – but what happens when they don’t work for you? Or the results don’t last? What then? This is where Mind | Body | Wallet comes in!

Most of my clients are passionate entrepreneurs who started their businesses with a big mission and a huge heart for what they do. But somewhere along the line, they have found themselves chasing money and clients around, working around the clock, and yet money still doesn’t seem to stick around. Many of them are even earning multiple six- and seven-figure incomes and money just feels out of control and chaotic.

My approach helps to address the areas of money that are often skipped over – the mental, emotional, and spiritual dynamics that are at play. These are the pieces that will allow the financial tactics and strategies to stick and work! At the end of the day, my mission with Mind | Body | Wallet is to free entrepreneurs from the financial stresses and burdens that they walk around so that they can live their purpose and make the impact they were created for.

Mind | Body | Wallet currently serves these entrepreneurial clients and community through my podcast (R.E.A.L. Money Talk), I have a few 1:1 coaching slots opening soon and will be launching group coaching cohorts in the spring and fall. My book, workbook, and self-guided online course will also be released throughout 2024 as well!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck, in a traditional sense! While I am so grateful and I have been incredibly fortunate to have grown up in an incredible and supportive family and that I have had a very blessed life, I believe that everything (even the hard or “bad” things) is always happening FOR us. And they are on purpose – even if we don’t know what it is in the moment.

Our choice, as humans, is how we view the things that are going on in our lives. And to continue to show up and make the next best move that we can – no matter what the cards are that are dealt! Some of the most painful and unfortunate “failures” in my life (that some may see as bad luck) have been my biggest blessings! Ie: getting into debt taught me so many more lessons than having money ever did.

Losing clients or speaking engagements that I wanted helped me stay grounded and learn how to improve. “Luck happens when preparation meets opportunity” is something I stand by. It’s all how we choose to view it!
