Daily Inspiration: Meet DVNEHPPY

Today we’d like to introduce you to Divine Martin.

Divine Martin

Hi Divine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started off as a poet honestly. In my spare time back in school I would always be writing poems or just some form of expressive writing. I remember a homie of mine taking my book one day and reading some of the stuff in it was like “You should rap these.” I shut the idea down instantly. Eventually, after some time, I started dissecting music and then my interest/love for hip-hop started and I wanted to be a part of that culture.

Fast forward to now, the love I had back then is just as potent as the love I have now. Along the way, I met other talented musicians who really believed in me and pushed me to new levels and I’ve never looked back since. Shoutout to the homie Tobias who put this crazy idea in my head.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not haha. But it’s been the most rewarding journey in so many ways. From learning discipline to patience it’s been all one big self-realization moment. One of the biggest challenges (cause it’s not really a struggle) has been having a little girl and being a stand-up representation for her while also showing her you can chase your dreams and be happy.

Other than that it’s been the typical struggles every artist faces, doubt being one of the more constant ones. And the hurricane that put me in Colorado in the first place (which has been one of the best tragedies to ever happen to me).

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hip hop/rap artist originally from Houma, Louisiana named DVNEHPPY (pronounced Divine Hippy). I am also the founder and CEO of the upcoming event promotion company called the W.O.A.H Network (Worthy Of All Hype Network). Specialties include dope bars, sensational wordplay, and vibe curator.

I am most proud of being a father and being a musician. I’m authentically 100% me at all times. Whether it’s Divine Martin or DVNEHPPY, what you’re hearing/seeing is just me.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I just released an album on all streaming platforms titled W.O.A.H. and I am also embarking on my first tour in May titled the W.O.A.H. Tour. Follow me on all socials @thedivinehippy and follow the journey.
