Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessa Johnson.
Hi Jessa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Colorado in 2009 to escape a very abusive relationship. Even with restraining orders in place me and my children were NOT protected. I entered Colorado broken and empty inside. I remember when I first started my healing journey. I would hike in the Rocky Mountains every day. Rain or shine. I would hike for miles in, find a nice quiet spot off the path somewhere, and meditate, pray, and journal.
I would cry big ugly tears, listen to healing music, and talk to God. Everyday. Repeatedly for 6 months before one day, I realized I wasn’t crying anymore. It took me time to get to that place, reputation, doing the work, and most of all, being willing to be present and ok with how I was feeling in each moment.
It wasn’t easy, some days were harder than others but I never gave up on myself. There were so many moments I wanted to give up. So many moments where I thought “I can’t do this” but I would look at my life and where I wanted to be and keep going. I found spiritual teachers, healers, and coaches and discovered new ways of healing.
I used these tools to get through each day, and slowly things got better the clouds lifted and the sun began to shine and day by day I began to feel better. I was happy. I smiled again. I started to enjoy life again. I found joy in small little things again and slowly I healed my life.
I started my own healing business because I didn’t want other women to experience and struggle through depression, anxiety, and stress alone. I want women especially empaths and moms to know that there is hope that you are not alone and you do not need to walk the ls path alone.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
(Smiling) we are souls living a human life. We are meant to feel. Deeply. Love deeply. Always growing, learning, being.. of course, I struggle. Life is never smooth. There are bumps in the road, cracks that we have to walk around, and sometimes mountains to climb. The thing is, social media and the internet make it seem like we heal and live happily ever after.
Healing isn’t about living happily ever after, it is about building resilience and being able to cope with tough situations. When life knocks us down, and it will, it’s about having the tools to get back up. Im human. I hurt. I cry. I get stressed. I can overfill my cup and get overwhelmed. But….. I also know how to come back to the center. When I notice that I’m feeling any of these things I stop. I pause. I breathe.
We’ve been impressed with Jessa Joy Coaching, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I SPECIALIZE IN HELPING HIGHLY SENSITIVE WOMEN WHO STRUGGLE WITH ANXIETY, STRESS & DEPRESSION TO CONNECT WITH THEIR BODIES & CALM THE MIND. Let’s eliminate your worry, calm those racing thoughts, and energize that low body. It’s time to take back your power, and let go of what’s no longer serving you so that you experience a deep sense of peace, calm, and safety in your life!
What sets me apart from others? I have been there. I’ve walked into anxiety and depression. I know how it feels and how painfully lonely and broken it feels. Because of this, I am able to hold that space for other women. I treat each individual separately because we are unique and what works for one person may not work for someone else.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
As a society we are in a huge mental health crisis and covid 19 only showed us how important connection really is. We need each other. We heal with others. It takes a community to make a change.
It’s important we have empathy for others and be kind and loving because we do not know what someone else is going through. or what their story is. Covid separated us. It isolated us and now more than ever we need to stand up as a community and fight for mental health. No one should ever have to suffer alone.
