Today, we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Bzdel.
Hi Nicole, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello and thank you for having me! My name is Nicole and I am an acupuncturist in Boulder, Colorado. I recently started my own small business, Pinpoint Acupuncture.
Health and wellness have always been my passion, and I’ve known from a young age that my future belonged in the healthcare field. I started by studying integrative physiology at the University of Colorado, which allowed me to dive deep into the intricate workings of the human body.
I gained valuable experience working at several physical therapy and chiropractic offices, helping people on their paths to recovery. But something was missing, and I couldn’t quite pinpoint it. I knew there had to be a more holistic approach to healing.
So, I decided to take some time off to travel and explore Southeast Asia. During my journey, I discovered the incredible power of yoga, meditation, and other mindfulness practices. These experiences ignited a desire to help people in a more holistic way, addressing not only the physical body but also the mind and spirit.
It was during this soul-searching phase that I stumbled upon acupuncture, and it was like finding the missing piece of the puzzle. I fell in love with how acupuncture not only treats the body but also harmonizes the mind and spirit. This incredible journey led me to become an acupuncturist, where I can now blend my passion for health and wellness with the ancient wisdom of acupuncture to offer a holistic approach to well-being.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Becoming an acupuncturist and starting a practice has not been an incredibly smooth road. Not many people know that to become a licensed acupuncturist, you must complete a 3 to 4-year graduate program, gain hundreds of hours of clinical experience, and pass a gruelling set of national board exams. Getting through this process was challenging, but I was so inspired by this medicine and its incredible healing capabilities that I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Once I started my business, I faced a new set of challenges. I now had to learn how to do the business side of things. I needed to learn about marketing. I had to create websites, content, blogs, and specials and run social media pages. These are all things I am not very experienced with and don’t necessarily love, but they are required to run a successful practice and to let clients know you exist! There was a big learning curve in the beginning, but I feel more accustomed to it now. There are many ups and downs when it comes to running a business, but I feel that if you consistently put in the effort and refuse to give up, you are bound to succeed.
Getting to do what I love, treat patients, and help them become healthier every day makes every part of the journey worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
Pinpoint Acupuncture is my self-owned and run acupuncture practice. I treat patients using acupuncture, cupping, and other modalities of Chinese Medicine. I specialize in treating acute and chronic pain and always put an emphasis on addressing mental health.
I am passionate about taking the time to get to know you, your body, and your specific concerns. I personalize treatments to address the root cause of pain or imbalance to promote optimal well-being.
