Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jen Kaminski.

Hi Jen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I had an affinity for marketing and communications for as long as I can remember. A career and two degrees in the field made sense because I loved telling stories and watching people feel moved and inspired to take action. So, when I became a stay-at-home mom in 2018, I knew immediately I was more of a stay-out-of-the-house mom.

I loved staying busy exploring my town and region, exposing my kids to new experiences, and sharing those outings with my network. In late 2020, I began documenting and sharing our excursions, harnessing my copywriting, social media, and design background. Castle Rock Families was born to help other parents get out of the house and in Colorado. By highlighting local events, playgrounds, restaurants, trails, and more, I reminded parents that the perfect family outing doesn’t have to be that far or that expensive.

By having a keen eye for advertising, I avoid simply talking about my life and instead communicate key information parents want to see and hear. Castle Rock Families evolved from playground highlights to weekly calendars, classes, and parent meetups (as well as all the previous kid resources). I travel all over Colorado and tell local families “how to have fun in and around Castle Rock.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growth was slow in the beginning because I wanted to create original, authentic content for families. I was joining a huge sea of Colorado influencers and content creators, and working in my niche took a lot of testing.

Nobody was focusing on Castle Rock at the time, so honing this audience was an exciting challenge. I’m proud of myself for sticking with it and paving the way for other hyperlocal content creators.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for being a social media guru and content creator! I’m an enthusiast of all things Colorado and am well-versed in documenting all the fun this state offers. I focus on how Castle Rock families can have fun “in and around” town, harnessing my career experience in campaigns and brands.

What matters most to you?
Being authentic and honest is important to me. I never want to represent a product or activity that doesn’t align with my values, interests, or personality.

My audience trusts me and my recommendations, and I hold that relationship closely. Recommending subpar activities or products has created distrust in the past, and it’s never worth the trade or money.
