Today, we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Thorson.
Hi Joshua, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a creative-minded individual ever since I was a toddler. I grew up being influenced by my mother’s work and traveling to Japan to visit family. Many of my earliest memories are from my mother and frequently being in her art studio.
Throughout my life, I was always immersed in the creative way of life. From getting in trouble from doodling to winning statewide art contests, I always expressed myself.
It wasn’t until 2019, when I graduated college that I started taking art seriously as a form of income and branding myself. Fast forward to now, where I have started to find my stride, reworking clothing and creating art that truly comes from my soul.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
From 2019 on, it has not been a smooth road.
In 2019, I made the decision to go to graduate school for Speech Pathology or to focus on my art.
I chose the latter because that’s where my heart truly belonged. From various odd jobs and freelancing, I made it work, but it has taken a lot of time.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I see myself fully as a multifaceted artist because, on top of making clothing, I do concert photography all around Denver and the surrounding areas.
As for the clothing route, I would like to say that I specialize in hand-stitching, for it has allowed me to quiet my brain and the many thoughts that come in and out of it.
On top of that, I occasionally paint and complete graphic designs for clients and myself.
It’s safe to say that I keep myself busy!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I would first and foremost credit my mother for all the inspiration and help she has given me as I have developed into an artist.
I really want to shout out my buddies Smoody (Michael) and Scott Bruxvoort because they have pushed me to push the boundaries and given me the confidence to be where I am now.
Also want to credit and thank everyone that has bought and supported my work from the beginning.
