Today we’d like to introduce you to Quinzel Harding.
Hi Quinzel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started off as a young guy cleaning at my father’s shop and would earn some money while learning hard work. Eventually I worked my way up and thought that body work was my thing along with paint. My dad kept telling me if I go to upholstery school how much of an asset this skill would be. So eventually I just went ahead and started the school and that is when learning process began. After going to school for the short term I had a vehicle I was going to restore the interior I could not wait. While looking for material for my project car at the time the owner came in and offered me an apprentice position, and I could not say yes fast enough. Worked there sharpened up my iron over the years I was there, and they taught me so much. Began doing side jobs out of my 920 square ft apartment is where Supreme Stitch began its name. Eventually worked my craft so well on side jobs I had now been making my wages at my full-time job in a short weekend job, so I took a chance and went full time with Supreme Stitch, and the rest was history.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course like every small business owner we struggled in the upcoming years as we were so short on capital. Investing every nickel you had doing car shows, promotions, videos, etc in hopes of a return. Sometimes we came out well , sometimes the people did not want a young kid touching such a beautiful antique vehicle. Once we earned our name in being one of the best at what we do, we are running very smoothly and busy as ever.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We mainly specialize in restoring antique vehicle interiors only original like factory or custom. Most proud of for the company and myself is even when things got so tough and I wanted to quit I just never did, it was a burning desire I had to have this dream. Of course I am most proud of our progress thus far being open, but I see so much more in Supreme Stitch growth over the next few years. Everyone on my team actually loves what their job is to the team to make these cars come together. Our team we just hold everyone accountable if it does not get a okay from everyone working we are going to constantly go back and put our best foot forward every car.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Next 5-10 years for my industry will be interesting. I say that because so many trimmers are getting up in age and the youth just never grasped such a beautiful art. No big changes for us upholstery we will always be relevant we have from the 1800’s all the way to now.
