Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ann King.
Hi Ann, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have let myself be pushed into marketing with Google search terms and commonly understood concepts.
This has kept me from accurately representing my work, my contribution, and my value. Although I have achieved consistent income, it’s not always with the clients I want to be working with those who want to be working with me.
I got distracted by whether or not I could “keep up” with the newest way of marketing instead of keeping an eye on whether it was authentic for me. Here is what I actually spend most of my time doing in my job: using my skills, education, and experience to help others.
The Decision-Making Session. Psychic and Energy Reading. This type of session is very conversational. I link to your energy field as you discuss different choices, and I share which options are in harmony with you and/or your goals.
Conscious Evolution/Inner Direction Session. Delve into the gap between where you are and where you want to be. A course of action is recommended that may include learning, practice, and change. Heal and Let it Go Session. We all make mistakes, and each of us has been a disappointment to ourselves at one time or another. If you are being abused by your own shame, humiliation, or sadness about something in your past, let’s put that behind you once and for all.
I have been influenced by Eric Fromm, Richard Bach, A. H. Almass, Tom Kenyon, Rebecca Kulp-Smith, one or two psychedelic experiences, Heart-Mind Institute, Helen Palmer, Robert Monroe, beautifully written fiction, Crestone Colorado, the Cabot trail in Nova Scotia, live theatre, incredible love, horrible mistakes, the Enneagram, – the list goes on and on when someone is interactive, curious, and open to learning and being changed by life.
When my teaching guides explained I needed to start working with others – I protested. That was quite a few years ago. I love the work I do. I connect people to themselves. To their soul and their dreams rather than their to-do list. I help people to create cooperation between the mind and the heart.
It’s never too late to create a different future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
HA! No such thing as a smooth road in business for one who is always evolving and evaluating what is next. I think marketing and methods of reaching potential customers have been my biggest challenge. My category of work falls through the cracks, so it’s difficult to find a way to communicate what I do.
It took a lot of trial and error to discover that referral networks and word of mouth worked best for me. I’m not considered alternative medicine, even though sometimes what I do is healing. I can’t call myself a counselor without a license, but it’s okay to call myself a therapist. There is no real consumer protection for intuitive services as we are considered “entertainment” by regulatory agencies.
People think a channel is someone who channels one specific entity or person and not someone who channels information from multiple sources. Today, I provide remote readings to customers in metaphysical stores in several cities, giving store owners a percentage of my fee, and I work at charity events to promote myself directly through experience while contributing to a good cause.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a metaphysician. Metaphysicians examine what’s beyond the reach of physical sciences and seek understanding in the realms beyond physical reality.
Think of metaphysicians as explorers of the cosmic fabric. I’m a healer who works with non-physical reality to create lasting change in people’s lives. I use metaphysical concepts to influence reality, shaping reality through the power of mind and consciousness.
My clients are from all walks of life, managing relationships, aspirations, families, companies, and careers, and when they examine their lives, they often see a lot to be grateful for and still feel as if something is missing. They report symptoms such as having low energy, feeling lost, having nightmares, and not getting any satisfaction from their accomplishments.
Sometimes, they struggle to find the words for a feeling of being in the wrong place or being off their path. Sometimes, they surprise themselves by behaving in ways they would have never imagined themselves, such as becoming cruel towards someone they care about.
The calls and emails I receive every year from clients who had a few sessions with me a few years ago yielded a very big result, and I would like to book another session to focus on a new challenge in their life – that is what I am most proud of. I am proud of being effective and useful in helping others heal inner conflict, become self-loving in a more mature and constructive manner, and helping people develop skills for keeping themselves aligned with what’s authentic.
Do I ever focus on building community? I support other people who are creating a community. I work with a number of small groups who have assembled themselves to support each other in conscious evolution. My role in these groups is usually to teach a specific skill, to address questions, or to give advice. We define my role and contribution to meet the needs and goals of the group.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Learning how to take risks and what risks we are willing to take is part of being alive. We have all been measuring our tolerance for risk and building a relationship with life and people around our risk tolerance from a very early age.
Are we willing to risk having our hearts broken? Are we willing to risk being foolish? Are we willing to risk our reputation? Are we willing to risk that we might have a car accident? Are we willing to risk an important relationship? We learn who we are, what we value, and how badly we want to accomplish something by confronting the reality of risk every day.
Values and perspective influence how anyone manages risk, including me. For example, making a decision to obtain an education even though it means there will be debt. There are different risks associated with each decision.
Once you have graduated from college and need to pay off that debt and launch a life, a person may decide to live in a location where there are many available jobs. Outsiders might view that as taking a big risk – to move to a location without family and support group – but to the person making the decision, the move is about reducing the risk.
