Daily Inspiration: Meet Destiny Auckerman

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Auckerman.

Hi Destiny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Destiny Auckerman, and I’m a wedding photographer in Denver. Growing up, I knew I wanted to do something in the wedding industry since I had watched my mom run her amazing bridal salon. It was so inspiring to see the joy she gave people on their special day.

I started photographing her clients in high school, which gave me a great introduction to the industry, and I fell in love with the whole process. When it came time for college, I decided I wanted to take photography full-time. I went to art school and got an associate’s degree in commercial photography.

Now, I’m blessed with my dream job of capturing people’s beautiful life moments.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business at 20 has definitely had its bumps along the way. Starting I faced lots of doubts due to my young age. I was able to overcome them due to my confidence in my ability as well as amazing support from loved ones.

Wedding days can be a lot at first due to so many moving pieces, but I find excitement in it all.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I photograph weddings, elopements, engagements, and families. I love capturing people’s happiest moments. I want to capture the joy and life happening in these moments. I do this by making sure my style stays authentic to the client and their experience.

I’m most proud of myself with return clients. Building these relationships where I start off by photographing their engagement and now am photographing their little ones. It’s been beautiful to see my client’s families grow.

The main thing that sets me apart from others is that I don’t have a photo limit. I’m so passionate about the work I do that I always go a little too far and end up sending all of my favorites. This is kind of controversial in the industry, but I want my clients to have every moment, and I can’t help myself!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My passion for my work has kept me very driven.

There have been slow moments and times where I’ve felt down on my work (I’m my own biggest critic).

But my love for photography has pushed me through. I truly believe in loving what you do. Hours of editing wouldn’t be worth it if you didn’t enjoy it.
