Hidden Gems: Meet Sydney Loprimo of Olivewing Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Loprimo

Hi Sydney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started learning Squarespace and Shopify back in 2016 to launch a business with a friend while working at a 9-5 in consumer insights. After a year and a half at a 9-5 job I was feeling unfulfilled and at 23 decided it was the perfect time to take a risk. I initially thought I would use my skills with website design to help others on the side while I built out an art business with a friend, but that quickly shifted as I found a love for design and working with others to bring their vision to life. I now have been working full time as an independent brand and web designer for 7+ years and so happy I kind of fell into it all those years ago. It so fulfilling working with other entrepreneurs and small businesses to be strategic and creative every day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think anyone has a smooth road into entrepreneurship. It is the biggest self discovery journey but I am so grateful every day that I look that risk back in 2017 to build something for myself. The key I’ve found is mastering your mindset because at the end of the day, that is what is going to keep you moving forward. You have to believe in yourself and the biggest struggles I faced early on were around worthiness and limiting ideas about what it meant to start and be successful as a creative. Once I was able to tackle those beliefs, a whole new level of success and enjoyment opened up. Strategy and action are obviously important, but at the end of the day, if you don’t take a look under the hood at your mental, it will be very hard to make big strides forward. You have to be your biggest cheerleader, not your biggest critic.

We’ve been impressed with Olivewing Designs, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At this point in my career, I’ve helped over 350+ clients create their dream online presence. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. Each brand is unique, and your website should reflect that. I work closely with my clients to make sure I have a holistic understanding of their brand and audience and relay that in a beautiful and modern site that puts the user journey at the forefront of the design.

From the initial concept to the final launch, I keep my clients involved every step of the way, ensuring that their vision is seamlessly brought to life. My key focus in the projects is creating a website that converts, which is why I often help with copy and brand elements as well to ensure a cohesive experience that easily engages my client’s ideal customer.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I loved dance, was extremely adventurous and extroverted. I also loved nature and spending time outside with my friends and family. I feel like I got away from this in middle and high school to fit into the mold I thought was necessary (as a lot of kids do). Then I spent a lot of my 20s trying to get back to that spunky and creative younger self. Finding that part of myself again has been amazing as I’ve stripped away the layers of conditioning I built to be malleable to other’s preferences. I think when you are trying to make everyone but you happy, you lose a lot of who you are and what you are meant to bring to this world. Getting back to the real version of you allows you to be so much more impactful. I now spend most of my time when I’m offline out on trails and find so much creative inspiration and clarity there.
